What a great day!

About 14 of us showed up at Nessy Burger bright and early. Kind of temporary looking but great food.

BeemerDon, FJRob (GWing) and Dave Foley (BMW) pulled in from Phoenix the night before.

Locals included Fairlaner, Jorstin, DJBill, Pegscraper, Coldcut, Lawrence, SnowAviation, FJStar, Cometman on the whatchimacallit and me.

Johny80's showed up to say hi (Him and Beemerdon did slip away for a bit. Someone saw them later, coming out of the gas station mens room).

Nessys is a great meetup location since it's a gateway to all things blacktopped (OM: one word or two?) and twisty. 30 minutes from KSU we are the top of Palomar.

Absolutley clear and beautifull day. San Diego County is very green after last weeks deluge. From the top looking to the coast.

In a nutshell, our day went from this

to this

and included a few of these

and this glider port at Warner Springs. I'd like to get up in one of those some time.

The lookout on Pines to Palms highway looking down onto Palm Desert. Lots of snow covered peaks. That's Big Bear, 35 miles distant, the 'go to' snowboarding mountain

for LA and San Diego.

Lunch at Fishermans in La Quinta. Someone else can post the table for 15 on the patio. It was F U L L of good food.

After lunch (Burp!) we headed south to the Salton Sea.

Did not stop for pics, and we should have cause it's 227 feet below sea level, (if that's the only good reason for stopping and it probably is).

I's eerily beautifull in a strange sort of way:

Eerily:

a. Inspiring inexplicable fear, dread, or uneasiness; strange and frightening.b. Suggestive of the supernatural; mysterious.

This is not that eerily, weird shot I thought it was. This is actually a 'waterfront winery' kind of look. I could live here, maybe.

Heading into the desert, UP and back towards San Diego. The last pic will be from near the top those mountains, looking back to here. Stay tuned...

It sure was a blast.........

While we were at Nessie's I took a picture, as i took it I said to someone that it would probably be the only picture i took all day....Guess what, It was.

Some of my most enjoyable moments in my motorcycling life are spent with the FJR Forum on a group ride. Yet sadly, not all of our fine FJR Forum Friends can attend these wonderful FJR meetups. But, all of us on yesterday's ride had some warm thoughts for our pals Niehart, escapefjrtist, BikerGeek99, RadioHowie and Bustanut joker. So, with no further ado, please let me share these heartfelt moments with you folks:

From Fairlaner:

Well, just one more! The local Mexican trash truck driver showed up at Nessy's Burgers and we told him all about Barry and Andy. So, he wanted to flip them off also!

That's quite a ride y'all went on...thanks for sharing it McRide! This whole blue sky thing is overrated...nothing like good solid cloud-cover and drizzle to keep one on your toes at FJR nominal velocities. ;)

...and for thinking of us Don. :drinks:

Sadly we do, with a chance of flurries tonight.

Thanks Roy. The ride was perfect and your pics are great. Nice meeting everyone I didn't know and great seeing everyone I did. It has been a long time.

We're all out chasing the herd thru the hills & dales while BustaNut has His favorite sheep inside for the winter . . . Doesn't seem right... well maybe not too wrong either !

Where's everyone else in the video?

Should have let the vid run at normal speed. ;)

Looked like a great day to ride, thanks for sharing.

Really sad to have missed this ride and would love to have gone. I added this forum to my paper route each time I visit the forum. Riding out to Vegas next week and Sedona for 4 days mid Jan.
