Still working on the details. Speaking for myself I would like to do something as far north as possible. Let the old farts like Bluesman keep the old bones from locking up before we get to Big Bear.
How does something like this sound. All the San Diego folks meet at our normal place off of 15. Pick up the LA Orange County folks at a place of their choosing in Temecula.
Good idea but can I suggest moving the LA/OC location somewhere more north maybe riverside/ontario area. Temecula for most of us would be back tracking south.

How about it Redlands where 10 and 30 meet for the LA/OC crowd?

Looking at Google map its looking like 30 to 330/18 to big bear. Lunch. Then 18 to 38 all the way back to the 10/30 meeting point. How does that work for everyone?

anyone recommend a decent hotel in the area? for Friday night/ Saturday night? Aug 23 so far looks like go.

Just ran up that way a couple months ago.....330/18 and then lunch sounds good......38 is the scenic spot of the ride for sure, I love that road. There is a side road that runs maybe three miles down to Jenks lake off 38, one gorgeous small spot. If Mr. Ranger is there he may try and stick us $5 to walk around and look, maybe not.........it looks like a Disney scene if anybody is interested, a great place to take the kids fishing.

Wow I just looked up where Lompoc is..man you are up there. Since I live in the riverside area I never really use any of the hotels but we have all the major places around here that you can find online. Rancho Cucamonga should be a good area for you to look into the zip is 91730. There are marriots, ayers, hamptons, hiltons, motel 6 and everything in between. Do a search and pick your spot.

Another route idea. I found a starbucks near the 10/30. There are tons of side roads that we could hit that are not shown because it is a pain in the arse to show that on google but this gives a general idea of a good loop.

route

138 by Hesperia is a little out of the way for the San Diego crowd. If you LA/OC folks want to do that as your ride home that might work. Speaking for myself I was thinking of going home via Idyllwild/Warner Springs/Ramona and home. Ive never ridden Idyllwild and I figured since I was alreay in that neighborhood why the hell not.

Again just my opinion here, I like the 38 to 18 route then cut those of you that want to go up to Aerohead let you go at Running Springs. That way those that want to slab it home can do so either up 10 or 10 to 215 south.

I’m up for picking a meeting spot near the 10/30 and winging it from there. Who says we need to have maps and an exact route. Some of my best rides have been the ones with no destination in mind and just exploring the unknown

I like the idea of just whatever happens happens. I am only limited by seat miles. After our 400+ mile ride my posterior can only handle that as a max.

Not sure what your budget is but that area around redlands and your hotel isnt the best one around. I wouldnt be able to sleep with my bike outside in that area. Rancho Cucamunga is only 10 or so miles away and it is a much nicer hood. I cant imagine it costing to much more to stay somewhere a little nicer.

I'm in for the 23rd . I'll be on vacation the first 3 weeks of August and this will be a great end to it.

how bad is bad? if it is common to find cars on cinder blocks then OK I'll move. i have been to some VERY bad hotels in south San Jose but everything is always locked up tight. when i go any where with the bike all the bags come off. then it put on center stand with a cover ( helps prevent people from getting on it)

About what time would this whole crazyness be starting? I'm a couple of hours north of the designated start point, so when this parade starts and finishes will be a major factor for me.
