EDIT: I really must remember to check my headings before pressing 'post new topic' lol. They do teach us English over here, honestly!.

There is a slight jump in the middle, my camera will only video 5 minutes at a time and I have to upload it onto the computer which takes a minute before I can record more. I might look into getting a second memory card, that would be quicker to change.

This gives a taste of the qualifying, we are lucky over here as we get all the qualifying sessions for all classes live. They have free practices and 2 one hour stints of qualifying, but it's not until the last 10 minutes that it gets really hectic.

EDIT 2: Our guys said that the information download from one of the 250's said that the rear wheel was doing 40mph faster than the front at the fastest part of the circuit yesterday in the wet. Thats at about 150mph!!

Is it worth me doing this for more races?

EDIT 3: In Saturday morning warm-up Rossi was waving to the crowd and overshot at Redgate and landed on his arse. He then got back on and dropped mud all the way round the track........F****n amateurs! :D

THAT was fascinating. I've never been to a race and I've not seen how they do the qualifying. It was really quite exciting as I can now see that they continue to push the bikes with everyone on the track. What a job the timers and scorekeepers must have just to keep track of all that goes on.

It will have been tricky in the 'olden days' with stop watches. I imagine there were many mistakes. Everything is computerised now. Each bike carries a transponder which transmits a signal to a base station somewhere on the start/finish straight. That will tell the time keepers how many laps and how fast each bike has gone right down to thousandths of a second.

When the practice takes place for the British Superbikes it is over 2 days prior to the race. There is a site that I usually log onto which shows the timing screen that the time keepers see. Every lap it updates as the bikes cross the line, showing times and speeds ect.

To see how the live timing screen works for British Superbikes CLICK HERE then click on Knock Hill on Friday/Saturday 29/30 June between 9am and 5pm UK time. It only actually shows anything when there are bikes on the track, so if it's just a plain blue screen or is just showing the results of the previous practice just hang on until the next batch of riders go out.

At the time of this post it's 08.37 here in the UK, and the clock at the top of the post tells me it's 23:37 so that means that this forum's time is 9 hours behind UK time. (If that is of any help).

The timing also works during the racing on Sunday, so if you can't get to a TV you can follow the race that way.

COOL, The only qualifying we get here is on the NASCAR channel (SPEED). It would be nice if they showed more of the pit action, I think there is almost more rushing around there in qualifying than on the track.

feejer 222,

Thanks for all of your posts on the various forms of motorcycle racing. I look forward to each and every one. I live just north of Indianapolis and am keeping my fingers crossed that I might get to attend my first MotoGP in person. I guess I need to start my email campaign to Tony George!

Thanks for showing us this. I watched it last night before going to bed and really enjoyed it . I wish there was better coverage here in the states of motor sports in general. Unless is has big American iron in it, it gets very little coverage. :(

It's a pleasure lads, as long as someone is enjoying it I don't mind doing it. I sit and watch most of the racing on UK TV so it's no trouble really.

The only pain is the time it takes to upload. The motionbox site I use works well but takes overnight to upload a 5 minute video.

Any ideas anyone??

Next week I am away at Knock Hill watching the BSB live so I won't be able to vid any TV stuff but I will do some more soon.

I will take some piccys of the races I am going to.

I'm still laughin' at "SOILER". Thing is, I didn't even notice until you pointed it out w/ one of your post "Edits".

That's a long time for upload. WOW. What kind of connection do you have. Doesn't Photobucket do videos? How about Google Video, or YouTube?

Then again I can't imagine that the web site you're using is really the issue. I would tend to think that YOUR connection has the slow upload speed. Most "residential" services in the States focus on download speeds rather than upload speeds. For most users, most of the time, that's fine. But you sure tend to notice when it comes time up upload a large file.

Could be, I have only tried you tube and it wont accept the file size. I might have a look at the other you suggested. Thanks.
