Well, I took ANOTHER ride today, and I think I got some really good photos.
I had a list of "to do's" that needed attention, and as I reviewed them, a decision had to be made.
I had hoped to round up a few of my forum brothers,
and make it a group thing-see post #13, but I reckon I did a poor job of selling the ride, or that little Quincy thing wore them out.
I waited on the corner till well after sunrise, but
nobody showed up. I wish Haulin' Ashe or Bustanut Joker lived around here.
They'da gone with me. They LIKE riding nice roads.
So I shoved off ----- alone. sniffle
Left my place in the burbs of Sacramento, California well before 6 am.
The route - (can't do the display map thing) - 49 all the way down to Sonora (how many miles is that MadMike?), and then up beautiful
Hwy. 108, high (9000+ft.) over the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains, and down into the high desert, just west of the Nevada state line.
Then north on 395. I went past my Hwy. 88 turnoff, all the way into Nevada and Topaz lake, where I got gas, ate my lunch sammy,
hydrated myself, and then turned back south to the eastbound run up Monitor Pass. Over the top again, down into Markleeville,
up over yet another pass (Carson-named after the late night talk show host I think?), past the Kirkwood Ski area,
more mountain lakes, and then back down toward Sacramento.
Whew. Good thing I got a big blue Yamaha.
Here we go.
Heading south on 49 - EARLY.
Stopped near Jackson, at a little sandwich shop known only to me. Got a bag lunch, which I stashed in ---my bag.
Farther south, that's Mt. .....Whitney in the distance.
Angel's Camp - main drag before the tourists wake up.
The Harley girls rumbling through.
New Melones Lake -(you shoulda seen the old one.)
And into the forest.
Mt.... McKinley in the distance.
Stanislaus River -Middle Fork.
Continuing up to higher elevation.
See that FJR down there on the right.
Almost at the summit. I hope ya'll appreciate the friggin' rock climbing this old dude had to suffer
in order to get these shots.
I'll have to finish up tomorrow. I'm whupped. Hope you like'em.
