Southern Missouri, Northern Arkansas ride..

There was some confusion on the ride date, so here it is..

WORK DAY, THURSDAY MAY 4, 2006

Hi Guys, I would like to invite any and all FJR guys to join in a ride from my home. Starting in Bonne Terre, Mo. 63628. It is about 50 miles south of St. Louis Mo. We did this last year and had a fun/great time. It was myself, FJRocket, KCFJR, and Galaxy Blue. Heres the plan... The ride will start on Friday, but everyone is welcome to come to my house to talk, tell storys, and work on the bikes Thurs. night. Free tire changing this weekend only! So if you need new shoes have them drop shipped here and I will get them on for you...

We will leave Friday morning and work our way towards Mountain View Arkansas. It will be a 400 miles day of some of the best roads Missouri has to offer...We will ride Sat. thru Northern Arkansas in a big loop and have us back at Mt. View Sat evening. Sunday we haul ass for home... I have played in N. Ark and know alot of great roads... But this is a fun ride and nothing is in stone... If you know of a road and want to ride it... We will do it. You don't have to have a FJR, I don't... But this is a sport touring type ride...And will be riding the twisty's..

Also, if you need to leave early.... or can't stay the whole weekend.. not a problem. It is all about the fun factor....

The main thing is everyone have a fun and safe!!! ride. I will get motel info and pass it along.. It will be up to you to reserve a room. Weekend rooms go fast in that area, so in the next day or two list the phone #... Any idea's send them this way...... Smitty

I'm there. If we can get FJRocket (Matt) out of his cockpit and Galaxy Blue (Adam) out of his cab they can join us. These roads are very twisty and scenic with a high fun factor. You are on the twisty's just as soon as you leave and almost every mile will be on rural, modestly travelled roads.

Smitty is a very knowledgeable mechanic and through watching him change Adam's tires on his FJR last year, I learned enough to change the tires on mine when I got home using the same model tire changer and wheel balancer that he has. This time it is shock and fork spring time from the group buy.

I would LOVE to make this ride this year... I am not sure i can though... I committed to a bikeshow in KC on the 29-30 april, So this does not give me much time to Get the work done and still have time to play!

I think i will have tp play this one by ear...

Heres a link to more room in Mountain View. I have stayed at the Dogwood Motel, it was nice and clean. It is about 4 mile from the Angler.

You should have a great time. These roads are pretty damn great with modest traffic.

I have made reservations at the Arkansas motel. So I'm set to go.

If anybody wants to split room costs and wants to sign up, I have reserved a

double occupancy so there is a spot available.

Mark, if you have any work to do on you bike, bring the stuff with you. If you are in need of new rubber, I will be happy to put them on for you. If so, let me know and I will pm you my address and you can have them dropped shipped here.

I have a lift, so if anyone want to change there oil, bring your oil and filters. We can also do TBS as I have the tools to do that. I will be available all day on Thursday, so the more stuff you have to do....the sooner you need to be here.

A lot of riders come down but only a few return.

Look forward to meeting you Mark. I will get there sometime Thursday afternoon and am staying in the Super 8 also.

I will most probably be the geezer of the group but you guys can leave breadcrumbs for me to follow. Smitty can set a pretty fast pace and with his Gixxer, we may have to tie an anchor to his bike to slow him down a little bit. He is most generous with his talents and equipment and has a very nice shop set up for service.

Adam - I'm glad that your going to make it. They can put a roll away bed in my room as I have a single but Mark has a double room I believe and if you guys want to share his room that is fine with me. Regardless, you have a place to stay.

Matt (FJRocket) - I guess we still don't know what he's up to. Hopefully he'll be there.

Smitty - I'll call you tonight and if you can get the fork oil, that would be great. I kind of hate to carry it and have it develop a leak.

Chester, I ordered 7.5 wt for my FJR. If I was you I would go to 10wt. For guys our size I think it would be better. Let me know what wt. you want, and I will pick it up... I am on evening shift, I will give you a call around 9:00pm. Smitty

I probably won't know for sure if I'm going until I leave. Definitely not Thursday... already booked... and I NEED the money (airplanes and motorcycles, you know...) So maybe Friday after work. But it would prolly be OH DARK 30 before I can get there.

I'm very iffy. It will be a fabulous ride, and I REALLY wan't the Ozark tour. That entire part of the state looks like some bikin' fun on the maps.

So Smitty, you riding the Gixxer or the KTM???? Get that carb straightened out yet?

Matt, I will ride the Gixxer. Have the ktm carb close, but it has so real nasty headshake above 75 mph or so. May have to put a steering damper on it. It gets really really spooky at speed....Smitty

One more thing... I will ride rain or shine.... If someone from out of town shows up and the weather is not the best, I will still ride...Or we can do a bunch of wrenching. It will be up to the out of towners.. And if for some reason things change and you can't make it... Be sure to call the Angler Resort and cancel your room 48 hour in advance or they will charge your card.... Smitty
