Smitty, did I meet you at the Falling Leaf Rally last October in Potosi? I was the one asking about all of your farkles after I saw your bike in the lot outside. Nice bike!
You gave me your card advertising a Hot Rod Shop. Same guy?
Hey SP,

I've got a room with two double beds. So there is a place to bunk if you want to split costs. Give me a pm if you're interested.

@smitty: I will ride all day in the rain...

Hey Wheaton, thanks for the offer. Now I've got to figure a way to sell this to the spousal unit. If I can't make the whole weekend, maybe I can at least meet you guys at Smitty's to say Hi. It's an easy trip for me from here.

Smitty, why'd you sell that FJR? You had it farkled out good! I was going to ask you about the suspension upgrades you did. I'm thinking Ohlins springs and shock right now for mine, because I can get a good deal on the parts through a friend. Either this bike just has weak legs, or I need to lose some weight!

Now I think about it.. I am not sure why I sold the FJR. It is a great motorcycle, and will have another one. You are more than welcome to join us for the Thursday work day. Also if you can't make the whole trip, just ride with us as far as you want on Sat. then blast home.

If anyone wants anything other than water/soda, there we stay is a dry co. No beer/spirits for miles. If you want something like that, bring it with you.

I will have maps for everyone, I have a 380 mile route for Sat. We can add or subtract if needed. Going to be a nice ride.... can't wait... Smitty :dribble:

Heres the rider list so far..

Hey Smitty,

Are you talkin' MO or AR?
Thats in Arkansas, no alcohol in some parts of that state...

Hey guys, looks like I'm in ... at least for part of the ride. SO didn't say "no way", so I just gotta schmooze a little more to get away for prob Friday/Sat. I might even try to scoot down to Smitty's for the wrench day Thursday, let me know when/where.

Can we say YEEE HAAAA! :D

I have 380 mile route mapped out for the Sat. leg of our Arkansas trip. Still working on the route to get us from Bonne Terre, Mo to Mt. View, Arkansas. Should be around 350-400. We can always make it shorter, or longer... Just see how the day goes. It will be a great time. Smitty :D

Awwwwwww crap on a stick! My SO's 30th birthday is Saturday, and she'd kick my ass good if I took off on a bike trip instead. I'd absolutley love to go, but can't. Smitty, when you get the route worked out, I'd really appreciate if you sent it to me--I'd love to do it on another weekend!

BTW, Smitty, are you the guy who knows a good Yamaha shop in Springfield? I was first looking for a FJR about a year ago; I live in St. Louis, and work one day a week in Farmington, and I remember a FJR owner in that area (Bonne Terre I think) that I talked to a couple of times about dealers in the area....

Okay, have a great (and safe) ride, y'all! :D

That's me, the shop is in Marionville, Mo. just south of Springfield. If you need more info let me know. Smitty

I am so psyched!

Ready to meet some new friends and some new favorite roads! :D

Guys,

You are coming to my home ground and I will not be able to go because of total knee replacement on 1 May. You are going to have a great time. Angler's is the meeting place we always use for our rides. Check out this link as we all use it to post pop up rides etc. Perhaps you can meet some of the local folks if you post on the site. The people who run the site have brought us all together. I hope you have a fantastic and safe time.

Well, I have map out a route for our trip to Arkansas on Friday.. It is about 340 smiles from Bonne Terre Mo to Allison Arkansas. Just 4 miles north of Mt. View Ar. I will make map copys of both days with the route highlighted in yellow. I also have made a turn by turn sheet for the 380+ mile trip in Arkansas on saturday. Sunday everyone can say there goodbyes and head for home.

Be sure you have enough rubber to do the miles. The roads are mostly chip and seal, and a a little hard on tires. There is still enought time to ship them here, and I can mount and balance them.

We will be mostly in the middle of nowhere. I is very important for everyone to ride safe, not follow to close, and be careful of fellow riders around you. If you are holding a faster rider up, please wave him around. We will always wait at the next turn for everyone to catch up. I will not leave anyone behind. This is not a group ride, you are only responsible for yourself. This is a fun ride with your new/friends. You guys get the idea, ride safe have fun. This is not to say you can't let it hang out, I plan to. But only where it is safe to do so. Ride your own pace, and don't let ego's get into the mix. I promise nothing good will come out of it.

I don't want to sound like a old maid, but if you have ever crashed a bike many mile from home you know what kind of pain it can be. Plus you will have to ride BITCH with someone.

Any questions, pm me.... ONLY 9 day to the Thursdays tool time. Smitty

Good luck with the knee replacement. I met you last summer up at the CFO and you were doing your tour de force of the U.S.

Sorry that you can't make it to the ride with us. Why don't you rent and ambulance and they can bring you up to have dinner with us. A friend of mine just had knee replacement a few months ago and it is amazing how fast they kick your but out the door.

Smitty, first, thanks for putting this ride together! We are all looking forward to it and share your concern about safety. I intend to have fun and ride within my limits. That probably means I'll be riding closer to the rear than the front.

If possible, I would like to load the route into my GPS beforehand. Is there any way I can get it from you, via email, etc., just the turn-by-turn directions? Even if you can just scan the map (if you have a scanner) and send it to me. I can program it into the Garmin s/w and provide to anyone else that wants it.

Thanks again, you're a good man!

I don't have a scanner, but I will see what I can do. It will be tommorrow, heading out the door to go to work... Smitty
