It's a little short notice (two weeks), but I'm thinking a little spin through Southwest Wisconsin and I'm looking for a level of interest. Anybody whos wants to go please post up.

What: A 300-400 mile "tour" of Southwest Wisconsin based out of the Dells.

Who: Anybody who wants to have some fun.

When: Saturday October 27th. People can show up Friday night and stay Saturday for a possible second route on Sunday or just show up the day of the Spin. Kickstands will be up around 8am.

Where: Start and Finish in the Dells.

Why the Dells? Well, Wisconsin is playing Michigan State at home on the 27th and all the hotel/motels around Madison are a rippoff. After a little preliminary search I found the the Blackhawk Motel. The rooms start at $59 and the reviews are great (Click & Click )Since a lot of places close for the season this month I checked around and there is a Perkins and a Famous Dave's for breakfast and dinner or there are a few other places too.

The only drawback to the Blackhawk is there is a $10 charge for cancellations after 72 hours before the reservation and one night's charge after 24 hours before. But I figure we should have a pretty good idea what the weather will look like before the 24 hour cutoff.

So, if we can get a few people who want to go, I'll keep working on this. Post up ASAP.

EDIT: The road through Wildcat is supposed to be open by the 22nd.

I'm interested...weather dependent.

I'm not all that keen on the Dells jump off point...but I see it's not too far to some curvy roads from there...and I see why you chose that spot. Weather dependent (wet...not cold)...I would probably blast up there Friday night and ride as many miles of twisty roads on the weekend as possible. If I see group riding that looks real shaky...I may break off and do my own thing.

If it looks like everyone has their head on straight and isn't trying to keep within 10ft of the rider in front of them -no matter what- (sportbike style)...this could be a good ride. :)

Looks like fun - hmmmm FJR or Hondapotamus FJR or Hondapotamus decisions decisions :p

This is enough interest for me to put this together. 2, 3 or more is fine with me, if a bunch of people want to come I'll break them up into small groups. Definitely no squidly riding allowed. I'll shoot this out to the Chicago email list too.

Oh, I want to ride squiddly as usual. I just don't want some other squid mucking up MY squiddliness. Hey, if it is semi dry for the weekend, I'm there.

Thanks for taking the lead in this Marty. :clapping:

Wadda you mean? What about that little red Triumph you've got in that garage? It's only Wisconsin for pete's sake...surely she deserves to get out of the garage for Wisconsin?

Yeah, forgot about her. More decisions - hmmm. <_<

Trees were beautiful north of Stevens Point 3 weeks ago. So SW should be primo now.

I rode a bit around Viroqua and south (FYI-forget about lodging in Viroqua, if anybody is looking-- they are severely challenged with only one nice place to stay. I stayed in the not so nice-you-can-negotiate-the-price-of-your-room place (probably by the hour), but the back roads south were really nice.

I wanted to do more time in SW WI, but after 5 days was ready to head home.

I'll be lurking and may try to make this ride, since I missed the H'vill 400 this year. I've been having real neck problems this year on rides longer than 200 miles, and the FJR may be up for sale in the spring, so I'd like to get one last lick in. Cold weather I can do-- wet with leaves, and I'll stay home and watch you guys on TV. :p

I booked a room for Friday & Saturday with two beds if someone wants to share. Blackhawk Motel:(608) 254-7770

I'd like to say I'll split the room with you, but I won't know till after Monday the 22nd.

Got to report for jury duty that day, find out if I stay or get released.

Don't know why anyone would pick me to serve on a jury given my history.

If they do and mess this up, then it will be the first time a shoplifter ever got the death penalty.

Making the motel reservation today...
Sweet! I talked to the guy who owns the place. Sounds like he won't charge if the weather blows and we let him know 24 hours in advance if we cancel. It's the last weekend they're open for the season. So I doubt they'll be full.

I'll count you in the "going". I figure we're all out if the weather sucks isn't good.

Definitely in....as long as Saturday or Sunday is looking good weatherwise...I'm going. I know weather can be pretty iffy for planning these rides, so as long as I have one day of "not raining"...I'm good to go.

I was gonna ask to be a room adjacent to your room Marty...unless you and Gramps are gonna be in one of those " adult themed" rooms...then the bets are off. Seriously. I don't want to have to gouge out my eyes seeing gramps in long black stockings or anything like that. Who knows what the Minnesotans are into these days... :D
