Spray-on paint protection

What happens to the Plasti-Dip or Paint Defender if the bike is washed or just gets wet? Will it cause that stuff to peel off, or is it "waterproof" until it's peeled?

I bought Paint Defender but have not applied it yet. 3M states after proper application, the vehicle can be washed and waxed like it could prior to installing their product. I assume Plasti-Dip is similar. I will be protecting the top of my side cases and the lower fairing below the radiator for starters.

After it cures its water proof. Wash it, Wax it, whatever.
