The day started off without a cloud in the sky and the forecast was for low 70's perfect day for riding. Temperature starting out was 57 degrees.

I was riding over to Ducktown to meet with everyone and rode through Greasy Creek that ended up by the Ocoee river, at this stop there is supposed to be a lake but the river and lake was low today.

Riding up the Ocoee, they had just turned on the water and it looks so white coming over the dam here.

These pictures are at the pull off at one end of the Dragon's Tail, as we watched traffic come and go there were almost 3 accidents just the short time we were there. Bikes were coming down the hill fast as people in both cars and bikes were pulling out into the road. One SUV almost hit Larry's bike from dodging another car coming down the hill. As we stood there a guy dropped his bike from losing his balance and broke off his right brake lever. I remember it was a bright red and looked new, there was a collective groan from us all as we watched it.

These are the people who rode yesterday, from the left is Larry (Mudarra), Steve (Orpheus), Mike from FJR forum, Jose from GSB forum, and Mike and Michelle from FJR forum. It was a pleasure to ride with all of you!

P.S. We never got to the fried pies because we were riding so much, we got there an hour after it closed. I know there was more time for others but I was riding and eating from 8am to 8pm, the time just seemed to get away from us while riding.

Looks like a great time Calabash! Look forward to some fried pies sometime soon! :dribble:

Congratulations Bogie. If you haven't booked honeymoon accommodations yet, check out Jackson Mountain Homes. The wife and I have used them several times. Get a cabin off the beaten path.

Nice ride report.

Will be headed up that way myself along with a couple friends starting this Saturday. Our first stop is TN Roan Mountain State Park. We have 2 cabins rented there for 2 nights and will ride 421 and some other loops around Boone and just a wee bit into southern VA. Then we head to Tellico Plains and will spend the night at Cherohala MC Resort and do the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway again, then head south to High Valley MC Resort in north GA for our last night before we slab it back to MS. :yahoo:

Dang I need a break from work and looking forward to next week........mother nature be kind

Good job Calabash! (what's Calabash?) I'm gonna someday get to that part of the country on a motorcycle.Ducktown, Greasy Creek, and fried pie. AMERICA!

Thank you.

Do you remember a comedian named Jimmy Durante? He used to say at the end of his TV show "Goodnight Mrs. Calabash wherever you are!" You have to be old to know what I am talking about...

Yes, I remember Jimmy Durante . (My Dad's boxing nose would often get compared to his.) I only saw him on Ed Sullivan I think. Didn't know he had his own show. Of course I'm just a kid. A dinka do!
