You know the saying, "There are two types of riders, those who have crashed and those who will crash..." I haven't had a bike accident since 1980. Hopefully it will be another 35 years until the next one!

Great ride report! Hope to ride in that area some day. Some great destinations to shoot for from the report. That guy from Council Bluffs? Yeah. He's a real piece of work! (Hey Mark! you turning to Iron Butt rider with that aux tank and all??)
Top notch RR Pants! Really enjoyed the text and photos, and wish I could take the time to take photos on my rides, and then write it down like this. Too bad your nephew couldn't have went with you, as he would have had a blast!
Best RR I've read in a long, long time. Arkansas has been my destination of choice for several years now, with or without my better half. Some of the solitary trips can really wake you up to the best things in life. Thanks!

I've had two myself and that's why I always wear full gear.
Bike can be fixed/replaced, but I only have one body and it's not easy to fix at my age.

Great ride report !!! Thanks for sharing... Love the lean angle on the bike (no chicken strips). If only this darn winter can end so I can get my bike out on the road.

Really enjoyed this - great RR! I'm reading this after a day ride around South Wales / Wye Valley on my FJR - I'll be enjoying the Ozarks myself with FJRBandit 24-26 May 15 and hope to ride out with as many of you as possible. Will now go on a strict diet so I can fully appreciate the eats available in this part of the world!

Allen - I enjoyed riding with you - especially when we were railing it on Push Mountain. On every curve, I'd glance at the inside mirror and there you were, leaned over with me. It was pretty cool!
Cav - by all means please post up here, I'm looking forward to seeing it.
LKLD - Jacob just can't get away from work and/or school for 5 days now. But that won't last forever and I have a feeling some we will share some adventures in the future.
Everyone else - it was a great trip (it always is). As you can tell, I'm hardly roughing it, and when I return, I'm relaxed, refreshed, and ready for the real world.

Your report reminded me of the two trips I've made to Arkansas. As dramatic and exciting as highway 123 is, and it truly is, my favorite is still Push Mountain road. The perfect, clean pavement, lack of traffic, and curves of perfect radii make it an absolute joy to run at a fun pace. Tough on the tires and footpegs, yes, but so far, my favorite road in Arkansas.

Push Mtn Rd was my favorite too, for the same reasons you listed. 123 had a section where we had to really be careful because it has some black crap on it that is slick when dry and horribly dangerous when wet.

S/R - I only had two days with these Yankees. I did the best I could and under the circumstances, I think we did all right. But of course, like all things, practice makes perfect and if at first you don't succeed, sweet Mother of Pearl, try try again!
Allen - you are thinking about Hwy 16 (before lunch). It was laden with tar in the center of the lane in the upper elevations. Hwy 123 is pretty clean. There is a small section with some tar snakes, but it's not much.
I too like Push Mtn road, but for me the problem is that there isn't enough of it. It's 15-ish miles of incredible riding with no side entrances/roads. By contrast, Hwy 123 is about 70 miles long in total, and connects to Hwy 7, 16, 74, 103 and many other great roads in the State.
But truly, aside from that little pucker moment with the frozen stuff on Saturday, it was fantastic. The trees were leaf less and the visibility around all curves was really good. In the dry, I was ripping it pretty good as evident by my tire. Man - that place eats tires.
Heck - it's all relative. Like my buddy says - "I kind of relate this to girls. Even the worst I've had was still pretty darn good!"
