Just saw this. Thanks for your concern, but the fire was in North Auburn (actually well north of the Auburn City limits at Bell and 49), I am close to the southern city limits of Auburn, and it was a south wind blowing the fire in a NNW direction (pretty much parallel to Hwy 49).
Good to hear. I heard the Harley dealership was going belly-up anyhow. They probably will fair better now that they can cash in on the fire insurance. Unless they didn't have any...

The Harley dealership on Locksley Lane closed up within the last few months. IIRC, one or a couple of the mechanics who had been employed there continued on in the building independently doing V-twin work as a new business. News reports said the building was destroyed in the fire, but not until all 30 of the bikes in the building had been removed by a number of good samaritans. Everything else in the shop was apparently destroyed, however.

Having said that, your observation is probably still relevant. If the Harley dealer had a lease with an unexpired term, chances are that the Harley dealer still had some liability on that lease, and may now be off the hook since there is no building to lease anymore. In the current commercial R.E. market here (LOTS of vacant commercial properties from overbuilding and recession), I wouldn't be surprised if the Harley dealer was subleasing to the mechanics at a lower rate (what the current market would bear) to recoup some of his larger monthly lease obligation, but was still obligated to pay the landlord (assuming there was one) the full amount of the lease rate negotiated during good times until the end of the term.

new update with the new fixtures i am doing a big batch with the rest of the scrap. that will make 41 more sockets. after that as i have stated i will have to buy material and the price will go up. quick calculations say about $3 probably less. the new ones will be 6061 T6 aluminum. i may try to anodize them so be prepared. if you are #42 or farther down the list and don't want to pay the increase just pm me and i will take you off the list.

Roy, not to be a pest, but any progress to #8? :dntknw:

Thanks!

I revisited this thread last week and it inspired me to get off my ass and craft up some tools I've had promised to fellow riders for months now. The CNC's were all tied up so I had to do them the old fashioned way. <_< Next project will be tools for the FJR drive. I'll throw a loaner set on here.

Gearman have you started to machine the steering head sockets, looks like Justroy has quite a backlog.

Excellent work. And it's good to know that there are still good people willing to help others. I'd be glad to have one in my collection of toys. Thanks for the offer. PM sent.

OK first off i would like to thank everyone for their patience. i am not a sit down person but my condition has been poor all summer and i have spent a lot of time in bed. this causes me to become depressed and then i feel worse. but i have a very good wife and the support of a close friend GregE form this site and they try to keep me looking up. that and my disability case just went to court and it looks like i will finally have some money.

that perked me up enough to get back out to the garage and make the commitment to finish the blanks i had started and get going so that i can finish this project and get everyone their socket by Christmas. so merry Christmas. i got 30 done this weekend and will ship them tomorrow after i go to the Dr.

just so you know it hasn't been all bad i got two more motorcycles. last month i got a 2005 CBR1000RR in perfect shape from a close friend and i ordered a Ducati hypermotard 1100s a few weeks ago and should have it before Christmas. my grandson has named the Honda "monster" and the Duc will be "Tard"

the year started good and i put 8000 miles on the FJR before June but only put 8200 on all four bikes since. when i was sick i would often ride the nighthawk 750. its light and easy to ride and the performance is so low even if i want to i can't get in trouble with it. the CBR on the other hand is a cop magnet. no tickets yet but i have been stopped 4 times in 5000 miles. the wife rode on the back once when going out to dinner. my son was with us on the FJR and that is what we rode home.

well that was enough babbling. sorry to burden you all with my issues.

these people ship tomorrow.

JR, put me down for one, too. PM sent.

Feel free to add me to the list. You can use "phuckstick" as my list-position-identifier for waiting so long to hop on the train.

Frankenbike is up and running like an Olympic champion. I've already put about 2,000 miles on him in the last month riding everywhere and nowhere, and a solid maintenance schedule, including correctly torqued steering head bearings, is in Frankenbike's future.

I am idjit.

This is the first I have seen of this thread. Put me at the back of the line for one. Good looking machine work. Sorry about your troubles, but I'm glad things are looking better for you.

due to a counting error i added four more to the list for shipped today, for a total of 34. only 47 left.

these people shipped today.
