I revisited this thread last week and it inspired me to get off my ass and craft up some tools I've had promised to fellow riders for months now. The CNC's were all tied up so I had to do them the old fashioned way. <_< Next project will be tools for the FJR drive. I'll throw a loaner set on here.

I'm wondering if the drive is the same on the gen 2. Never thought of that.

new update with the new fixtures i am doing a big batch with the rest of the scrap. that will make 41 more sockets. after that as i have stated i will have to buy material and the price will go up. quick calculations say about $3 probably less. the new ones will be 6061 T6 aluminum. i may try to anodize them so be prepared. if you are #42 or farther down the list and don't want to pay the increase just pm me and i will take you off the list.

exskibum, how did you fair in the fire? Everything good?

My in-laws live in Auburn and it was obviously a big concern for them but it turned out alright for them.

Roy,

I had completely missed this thread; this is awesome. I can't begin to thank you for your efforts and generosity.

As we prepare to head to EOM and approach the one year anniversary of our accident, Annette and I are so thankful for all the support, well wishes, and camaraderie of this community. We are back riding today because of the support we have received from our extended family.

For anyone who has not gone through an event like this, I can say definitively that the support of this group of riders and friends is what gave me (and Annette) the strength and determination to continue. It is what makes me so proud to be a member.

Thank you,

Wayne

Just saw this. Thanks for your concern, but the fire was in North Auburn (actually well north of the Auburn City limits at Bell and 49), I am close to the southern city limits of Auburn, and it was a south wind blowing the fire in a NNW direction (pretty much parallel to Hwy 49).

I did get an automated emergency call telling everyone to evacuate "within a 7 mile radius of Bell Road and Hwy 49"!! My dad was a firefighter for 33 years, I grew up with wildland fires (evacuating a couple times and helping fight a couple), so I blew that off as meritless from the facts I knew. A lot of criticism of that vastly overbroad robocall has surfaced in the local media since. The good part is that the automated call system seems to be able to provide evacuation info on very short notice, so long as they work on the message being better tailored to the actual conditions when it goes out.

I think the best estimates of the size of the burned area is about 375 acres, but it spread very fast due to fairly high winds that day. A real tragedy for those whose homes were in its path, but NOTHING like the monster fire still going in the L.A. area.
