Thanks for all the replies guys! I ended up just drilling several holes in the crankcase and letting it drain out. Made sure I could get it all out with that method. Plugged the holes with JB weld too so I should be good to go!

Thanks Dr. Joe - that sounds like a good idea! I will try that next time instead of the foil.Just put a used grocery bag over the fairing part before removing the oil filter. That way when you're done, one just have to remove it and won't have to clean no mess...
