After having installed & tuned in the Wilbers shock & fork springs last summer, I wasn't expecting much improvement with the winter's installation of the Superbrace.

To my amazement, the handling of my '04 has been improved beyond any expectation. By comparison, the bike steering felt unsure in the curves before the brace. Now, it feels very precise & stable.

Some have questioned the benefits of adding a fork brace to their FJR, but I can now highly recommend them.

The Superbrace definitely makes a significant improvement on the FJR front end feel, there is no doubt of that.

Some lucky '03-05 FJR owner is going to win this very gull-wing Superbrace as a door prize at WFO-5 in Reno:

Warchild,

I'm getting ready to install my Superbrace, but I need

a liitle advice.

Jestal used a pop-rivet to attach his plastic fork bug guards

to his SB; ScooterG used some JB Weld; but I remember

somewhere reading that you used something called CBX

(I thought, anyway, but now I can't find the thread

mentioning what you used. I DO recall, however, that whatever

you used has lasted you "many miles".)

After searching on the forum, however, I haven't been able

to find that thread. Thanks for any help...

fjrvtx 1300s,

The gull wing was made for the ABS version to stop the banjo bolt from hitting. The original braces were straight across. Milling out a clearance for the banjo bolt worked for most ABS bikes. I also have my bike lowered front & back. That meant that even cutting out the straight brace wouldn't be enough clearance for my situation.

IIRC, Warchild used some sort of 5 minute epoxy, or possibly ABS cement. I can tell you my JB weld has lasted for about 55,000 miles. More miles than that ninny Warchild has ridden his poor, neglected FJR.

:p

Cool, warned/banned mod coming up, just in time for the weekend. 'Bout time spinny got his comeuppence... :D

Roger that, ScooterG....

Got some JB Weld in the big toolbox!

(It's the 4-minute bond stuff.)

If it's worked for you that long, it'll

be just fine for me.

Thanks for the info.

Guys,

Any cutting of the OEM guards needed (just the vertical part

that glues onto the metal guards from SB).

I KNOW I saw pics of this somewhere, but my brain

is having a "middle-aged" moment and I can't find it.

Oh, to be young and stupid (but with a decent memory).

Thanks- :trinibob:
