synthetic oil in new bike

Hi,
When I brought the AE to the dealer for the 600-mile service I asked the mechanic about replacing the oil with synthetic. He said that using synthetic before 10,000 miles would void the bike's warranty. Is this true?

I don't know about voiding warranties, in my experience you need to break in the rings first. Five to ten thousand miles should do it. If you put it in too soon the only down side is you will be burning very expensive oil. It will definitely reduce wear in your engine and with many vehicles give you better mileage. I have been using synthetic oil since 1972 and have been very happy with the results.

Just use the 15W40 Delo/Delvac/Rotella and worry about something else....LOL.
