Nice offer Rad! I ain't local ( though maybe loco!) Guess I could make my way over an up just to ride a "severely" tuned, an finally as fast as an "under embellished" 04. Thanks for offerin up Frank. :p

Oh, an I know how to mount an FJR without tearin **** up! See ya soon!

:jester:

Good idea to get a test ride.

I was considering a DL1000 or the FJR.

I doubt the DL1000 would have had the FJR's crappy throttle or unbearable heat issues. Had I ridden both for 1-2 hours on a hot day in some twisties, I would have chosen the VStrom instead (and saved $4000 too).

Personally, I've never understood the basis for that taboo.
No taboo. I just don't like cops. :yahoo:

Given the state of the economy, I suspect you'll find there are Yamaha dealers in your area who are willing to let you take a test ride if they're convinced you're a serious customer.

There is a significant difference between a "test ride" and 1-2 hours in the saddle. Almost any mc is good for a test ride.

I don't know if your still looking but i would be willing to stop by on my way down to the eom ride and let you have a ride. I have a new 08 and it is absolutely positively the best motorcycle i have ridden. it has a few flaws but for the riding i do it is great. it would also give me a reason to stop by and see wally and bobby hart. so if your interested in riding a squids bike drop me a line.

Hi all,

I don't have quite the illustrious experience that the OP has but I too would like to demo an FJR.

What I'd do is put you on my 04 Honda 919 and lead me around where ever you want, and I'd bring the cash value of your bike in case something happens.

I've been riding for three years and have two track days under my belt. Not looking to push the bike, but to get a feel for it as I have a deposit down on one locally.

I'm in the 08840 NJ area code but willing to ride pretty far to try one out. No dealers here have 'em and the one dealer I put the deposit down on is selling it on consignment and says they legally can't let me try it =\

Let me know if you'd care to share =]

Thanks,

Martin

Ps - I have a ton of hours on my friends ST1100 which is similar in heft to the FJR.

Nice ride, Martin. That one looks awfully clean, like maybe it was somebody's garage queen. How many miles on it?

C'mon spill the details...
