Mike, thanks for the good info. I have a Sampson (pillon mount) on my GS, so I know and trust Sampson products. I've needed a couple bits over the years and Terry has always been great to me. I was wondering about the rear tire changing as well - you mentioned that you think it might go through tires a little quicker, do you have a feel for how much quicker? Relatively speaking - say you used to get 10K, now you get 9K?

LDRYDR - do you think your car tire had anything to do with your issues? It sound like the guys running motorcycle tires didn't have these problems. I'm glad you were able to deal with on the road though. I'd probably just **** my pants, light a match and call a cab.

I'm considering a taildragger on my FJR. I love my GS set up, but I am thinking of doing some things differently on the FJR. Beerme said he wants to be my ***** in the IBR

The car tire wouldn't necessarily be the problem and its tread width might actually have helped.

I wouldn't fear installing that tank (IIRC, Hal has had no problems with and his may have been the "test mule".). You might ask if they can make the lower support brackets from something other than aluminum OR have some made from stainless or steel before you install the tank.

Er....DO get and post pictures of Beerme as pillion. :D
