And whoever else jumps in line before people get boring and wander off to dinner.

Looks like there will be plenty of experience around, in the peanut gallery. :D

Brent, I was FIRST in line. I was hoping that I could be the test subject. I'll be paying attention to when this will begin. See you in 1 week,

Heidi

Hey if its not to late, I'll be there in the back of the line too! :)

I've never done an '06.

I believe the only difference is the need to remove the new aluminum heat shield.

I think the tank mount is slightly different also, but nothing significant.

As long as there is no screwy fastener involved, it should be no issue.

Since the top end of the motor is identical, I don't expect an issue.

Anyone that's done an '06, please chime in.

There is a '06 "How to" posted over on STN. But that guy did not follow the manual and went to the butterflys for the adjustment. I wouldn't be willing to do that on someone elses bike.

:)

Hey syncmasters,

This has to be worthy of a libation or six. Post up you favorite so it will be on hand!

Thanks. :yahoo:

I have had the tank up routing wires for farkles it is a little difficult to get back in place as it has to be pushed forward to align the bolt holes. No problem with many hands. The heat shield seem to be moveable as it is just a piece of foil insulation.

I just did a TBS on my '06 today. No major issues. This was the first synch in 11K miles. It wasn't that far off. I actually found it easier to remove the tank to get the hoses hooked up the vacuum nipples, then set the tank back in place and hold it up with a bungee cord. My tank was about 1/2 full so it wasn't that heavy.

After getting the tank out of the way, remove the T-bar and then the heat shield. You have to feed the two electrical connectors from the bottom of the tank through the hole in the heat shield, then reconnect them to the tank. I found the hardest part was getting the little rubber nipple off the #3 cylinder connector. Its kind of buried under a bunch of hoses.

I have a Morgan Carbtune that I used. I'm bringing it to EOM so we can use it for the TBS-fest there :)

When is this going to be done? I'd like to have my 06 checked also , and I'd be willing to help out, if help is needed. Let me know. I plan to get there Thursday evening sometime. Looking forward to meeting everyone. B)

The plan is to have a TBS clinic starting around 6:00 on Friday evening in the parking lot.
