Panama Canal Crosser
Prelude to the kickoff party...
Monday- My plan was to setup the camper, get bedding, pillows etc around for 7 or 8 additional house guests, 1 (Mel) who was allergic to cats (I have a house cat). So, I figured I'd pull the boat Tues. nite for his isolation sleeping quarters as it has 2 queen beds and I'll park it in my driveway for easy access (not that my Marina is far away lol!).
Tuesday- being 93F and very muggy, I called a boating day. The humidity was due to lift later in the day/evening, so I figured water time in the afternoon, then cocktails at the Crow's Nest with dinner at nightfall. It's pretty easy around here to call a "play hooky boating day". Most are retired anyways, but a few of us actually have to make arrangements, and we did!
Debbie is on the back end of my boat, orange bikini for any of you 20/20 vision-ares.
After PIPWD (peeing in place while drinking) hehe, humidity took a flight outta here! It was now in the low 80's and quite comfy!
I was getting some dock lines ready for tie-up at the Nest, she can navigate (somewhat!) and I kinda like the rear seat view! :=)
A cocktail on the boat before we head up to the Nest. In the b/g behind the lit up tree was to be our dinner table the next night for our biker guests. This place never gets old, and 2 nights in a row here is a treat so I wasn't worried about a double feature.
Weds (kickoff day/nite)
Lil Jon was first to stroll in at about 6:15pm. The Canadians I guess got lost with Tim leading. Around 6:40 they came in, but no Tim (madmudder) yet?. Apparently he got lost (again), took a wrong turn but his followers took the correct turn(s). hehe, this is typical of Tim leading, but he's a good ole boy, so I can't bust him too much!
The sign is a playback joke towards the guys at wnyfjr Tech Day. They always have a "BMW parking down the street" sign, so I returned the favor. Most who pulled in knew the inside joke, others I informed, all good and just having some fun back at 'em.
I had 5 12-packs (varieties) of beer stocked in that blue cooler. The boys did a pretty good number, only about 8 cans/bottles left in the AM!
My son Kris in the pink shirt joined us as well as the "Steamer" and his bride to be "Ann". We also after this pic, had Bruce join us as well. We had 14 total at our table.
Thurs- (Ride-in to NERDS day)
We had a breakfast stop in this town (Skaneateles), then a photo stop on the lake. Tim is giving FJRPittsburgh Jeff some antennas. Everyone is in a very upbeat mood, despite a lacking on sleep for some (Tim, sleepwalking). ;=)
Lunch stop was at the Tail O' Pup where we met Dave, Ian and Cindi. After, we hit a gas station, somehow lost a few? and we wandered our way out of Lake Placid, only to stop on an entrance to an off road... but we never found half our crew, even with an almost 20 minute wait! (with Ian and his beautiful Mustang parked along with us.
Swindling down on the Tracey, or getting to it! I didn't lose Ian in his bad-A 'tang however! PS; Ian, tag on those Tracey Rd shots here please!) TY!
APP-Gap (where the Appalachian Mtns end). And, Ian always seem to find Debbie for pics lol!
Mel finds his home away from home....
Thursday nite parking lot shenanigans, yepper, Ian and Debbie (again!) lol.
As I attempt a solo pic w Debbie....
Brotha Dave gets into the action!
My two Sweeties.... Mary Ellen says she can't remember this Kodak moment however!
