Prelude to the kickoff party...

Monday- My plan was to setup the camper, get bedding, pillows etc around for 7 or 8 additional house guests, 1 (Mel) who was allergic to cats (I have a house cat). So, I figured I'd pull the boat Tues. nite for his isolation sleeping quarters as it has 2 queen beds and I'll park it in my driveway for easy access (not that my Marina is far away lol!).

Tuesday- being 93F and very muggy, I called a boating day. The humidity was due to lift later in the day/evening, so I figured water time in the afternoon, then cocktails at the Crow's Nest with dinner at nightfall. It's pretty easy around here to call a "play hooky boating day". Most are retired anyways, but a few of us actually have to make arrangements, and we did!

Debbie is on the back end of my boat, orange bikini for any of you 20/20 vision-ares.

After PIPWD (peeing in place while drinking) hehe, humidity took a flight outta here! It was now in the low 80's and quite comfy!

20160723_202205_zpsxcjmaisg.jpg

I was getting some dock lines ready for tie-up at the Nest, she can navigate (somewhat!) and I kinda like the rear seat view! :=)

A cocktail on the boat before we head up to the Nest. In the b/g behind the lit up tree was to be our dinner table the next night for our biker guests. This place never gets old, and 2 nights in a row here is a treat so I wasn't worried about a double feature.

Weds (kickoff day/nite)

Lil Jon was first to stroll in at about 6:15pm. The Canadians I guess got lost with Tim leading. Around 6:40 they came in, but no Tim (madmudder) yet?. Apparently he got lost (again), took a wrong turn but his followers took the correct turn(s). hehe, this is typical of Tim leading, but he's a good ole boy, so I can't bust him too much!

The sign is a playback joke towards the guys at wnyfjr Tech Day. They always have a "BMW parking down the street" sign, so I returned the favor. Most who pulled in knew the inside joke, others I informed, all good and just having some fun back at 'em.

20160817_190842_zpslwrj2rwq.jpg

I had 5 12-packs (varieties) of beer stocked in that blue cooler. The boys did a pretty good number, only about 8 cans/bottles left in the AM!

20160817_190854_zpslbbkuwcs.jpg

My son Kris in the pink shirt joined us as well as the "Steamer" and his bride to be "Ann". We also after this pic, had Bruce join us as well. We had 14 total at our table.

Thurs- (Ride-in to NERDS day)

We had a breakfast stop in this town (Skaneateles), then a photo stop on the lake. Tim is giving FJRPittsburgh Jeff some antennas. Everyone is in a very upbeat mood, despite a lacking on sleep for some (Tim, sleepwalking). ;=)

Lunch stop was at the Tail O' Pup where we met Dave, Ian and Cindi. After, we hit a gas station, somehow lost a few? and we wandered our way out of Lake Placid, only to stop on an entrance to an off road... but we never found half our crew, even with an almost 20 minute wait! (with Ian and his beautiful Mustang parked along with us.

Swindling down on the Tracey, or getting to it! I didn't lose Ian in his bad-A 'tang however! PS; Ian, tag on those Tracey Rd shots here please!) TY!

Friday, a slightly less crowded day touristy wise, I thought we should climb Mt Washington (vs Saturday). It was still very crowded!

Parking spots were tough to come by, so we squeezed in anywhere we could

Rick (Pura Vida) & Mike (Wine Guy)

20160819_122539_zpslord7wuy.jpg

One main difference between the Western Mtns and these Eastern ones? Well out West, hardly any antennas or comm towers. Like who needs cell and TV etc out in the Rockies right? cough-cough, me... when I was out there I could of used cell service a few times ;=)

20160819_122527_zpswad4wjr7.jpg

Dave (On2) likes the minor lack of oxygen up here! (Chris & Mem de-gearing)

20160819_122455_zpsdx6fbgzy.jpg

Short walkway up to the summit, well I guess not all of us thought it was short! lol

We spent at least an hour up here, now... time to trek downward! Mike the Wino and V-Max Larry are liking the down stairs routine!

20160819_130840_zpsfaxaqyy3.jpg

So down we shall go, plus we were all "high enough" and lunch time was near!

Heading away from Gorham, now on our way south towards Conway NH....

[special Thanks to Fred W for politely correcting me on this!, I've been to a race in Concord many years ago, guess that stuck in my lil brain!]

Rick led us to one of his favorite lunch slash watering holes, I believe we were almost in (North) Conway NH here.

Hippies live here! ...and I'm open to it dude....

Our waitress selected my (1-Beer limit) beer of choice, interesting, but I'm glad I only could have just one! hehe.

20160819_145228_zpszmuacoqo.jpg

My lunch **** was Brisket Nacho's, friggen delish! (I had to share about half of them however, tooo much!)

20160819_150146_zpsq73xkmih.jpg

Charlie (Huey Lewis) led us to Cathedral Ledge (North Conway NH) after lunch, it was only a few miles down the road.

Saturdays venture, we took in the Lake Champlain Isles and Norther VT. I ad-lib'd the route somewhat as this was one I have done a few times prior, but I had some new peeps along with me that wanted to take it all in! :=)

Rick, Deb, Dave, Larry, Chris

20160820_110130_zpst4vexjwp.jpg

Lake Champlain is pretty, but kinda the same as the Finger Lakes (for me) but I'm still plenty game to take it all in!

20160820_110600_zps3t8p35ok.jpg

A stop at the outdoor Church gets Debbie all excited, she can't believe that they have a Church and service all held outside! (well sorta)

For lunch today, I had planned a sweet stop in Newport at a place called The East Side. Been there before a few years back, so a re-visit was in place for today! yippie eye eh! (for you Western Kanadians!)

Chris, Dave and Larry sat across from us, some very good company!

20160820_133129_zpswlmrpm7d.jpg

On my port side, I had Debra (Charlie calls her D-Bra, lmao!) along with Mike and that Charlie guy! (yes, it's hip to be square!)

20160820_133148_zpsdufsvjps.jpg

We had a 1 beer rule in place. It was hard to follow on a fine day like this!

Okay, what's a RR without some FOOD ****!

Debbie (Mrs Healthy) had the seared Tuna

20160820_140048_zps0c1ipvha.jpg

I had a Portobello Mushroom Grilled Veggie-wich. Delish! (and.... kinda healthy!?)

20160820_140118_zpslnrxwfkx.jpg

Mike had the Seafood Bisque, I had this at our last visit here in 2013, man...delish! and Mikey said it held up to our great preserved memory of it!

20160820_135917_zpsq6gjkcro.jpg

My beer of tap choice was hand picked by our local beer snob "Rick". He swayed me into a smooth Amber by a local brewery in his hometown of Burlington VT. It was really good, not quite as delicious as a Smithwicks... but gett'n close!

20160820_133439_zps7457s1dv.jpg

The full belly syndrome on the side porch is where I find Larry and Charlie. Guess lunch was pretty good! :=)

20160820_144126_zpsellmhdsj.jpg

We took the long way back to Stowe, now led by local Vermontian Rick...

Charlie was happier than a kid on the last day of school

20160820_153745_zpsp2syvqjh.jpg

Chris hydrating was in good spirits as well

20160820_153717_zpsxj5ovz7c.jpg

Debbie (overheated) asking me if she can de-ATGATT? I said nope, so I got this sigh! (and maybe this is why Charlie calls her D-Bra? lol). Brotha Dave is ready to roll!

x The End X

Feel free to tack on any pics, especially Ian's Tracey Rd images that I have only herd about from Cindi!

Cheers all, till EOM

The best part of this pic is your rebranding of the K1600 using the logo and branding of the Yamaha Musical Instruments Company...I don't care who you are, that's funny!

I can't imagine who would deface a glorius BMW K1600 GT like that.
devil.gif
I did not see who did it but talk was KJ did it himself to fit in.
I was hoping they would stay on till I got back, I think that dang Pura Vida guy leading us in a few 100+mph stretches (after Kancamagus Rte 112 Hwy) did the last of 'em in.

And... Rick knows... it's a compliment to get that much attention and we all know it was "Tim's" makeshift idea and who really wants me back into a Yami!
smile.png
hey, someday again, I'm sure! ...still an FJR fan, and always will be!

I believe the tuning forks go upward on the Yami music logo. But Timmy did the best he could, I give him props.

I only took the photo once it was brought to my attention. I am still a firm believer you did it KJ!

It's nice to feel like part of the group.

Good stuff, KJ!

The Stowe area looks different, than when I was there in '08, probably because I was there in Dec/Jan.

Thanks for sharing!

Some views by our friends Ian and Cindy ...riding along with us in their beautiful Red Mustang from Tail O' Pup BBQ (just east of Lake Placid) to the Tracey Rd.

Special thanks to Ian and especially Cindy for these great photo's!
smile.png

Exit the BBQ!.... all fat and gross
wink.png
....Lil Jon was farting brisket sparkles, so he became much faster, hence why he now was my #2 rider behind me!

now "in" Lake Placid which is only a few miles east of the Tail O' Pup on Rte 86...

After our gas stop following the BBQ, we lost a couple? We waited for awhile, but Ian quickly popped up and decided to lead us... we all saw the paparazzi opportunity for some rear door shots lol.

As we went through some nice curvy roads, I look to see only me and Ian now... so we decide to take on the Tracey by ourselves (keyword!)

17_zpsyhyuxmwg.jpg

I took the lead, Ian was following and I figured this would be kinda kewl for our paparazzi !

12_zpsqvphj1lh.jpg

I'll admit, riding the Tracey "2-up" is not my flavor of choice, especially w Debbie poking me in the ribs whenever she thinks we're too horizontal, but we still had fun!...

13_zpsoadp2udn.jpg

Finishing up the Tracey where Ian admitted he had his Brembo brakes lit up a few times!, and boy did his 'tang do well on the Tracey!!

Here we are awaiting the other "slow pokes" to show-up.... I was slightly bored one might say!

Ian wanted in on the wet tee shirt contest, okay... he wins! (but he's cheating w the tweaking of the nip!) lmao!

Now in Vermont.....

Ian and Cindy visit Smugglers Notch!
smile.png

18_zpsdw2iwofi.jpg

Love da' Notch! But as you can see, definitely no room for errors!

19_zpsh2ie7jfe.jpg

Thanks again Ian and Cindy, it was super fun to have you guys along for part of our ride-in!

Ian, you are a ball of laugh's 10 miles kms wide!

See you all at EOM, Wytheville VA. Sept 22nd!
