your misguided sir,ive chatted with mike kneebone and hold no ill will to them and i so understand why it was not a cert ride!!!

but if i wanted a cert i would go out and earn one,i just like to do my own thing is all!!!!
I apologize if I misread what your posts are about...however, I get the feeling from your signature on every one of your posts that you don't think much of the IBA...(world's toughest riders...hmmmm). So if I misconstrued your posts, I apologize.

Pardon me, I'm kinda slow sometimes, butt you're wanting to do 1750 miles in 24 hrs on the Cherahola Skyway???

Never say never, but I don't think that's possible, butt whatyiknow...

As stated above, a 73 mph avg would be required which I don't think is possible on this road; and yes, I've ridden it a couple of times.

1750 on a straight Interstate would be a challenge to say the least, but hey, follow your dream! Hell, if it works out, I'll even come up and be a witness/part of the support crew.

As a famous redneck once said "Hey Ya'll, watch this!"...

the only people who would be able to tell you if it could get approved would be Mike, et all at the IBA. check with them prior to any extreme cert attempt. otherwise, do whatever floats your boat if no cert is going to be submitted.

more than a handful of people have done a 2KDay but it was out in the deserted western outback. the Skyway is far from deserted and traffic is thick enough that the target cruise speed would be hard to "justify" to any certifying body or any LEO who rousted you.

yeah. i remember all the flack you posted at the time. some joke. :/ we've met and chatted more than a few times and i consider you a nice guy and an amazing rider (have your white wing video from the gap, too). at the time your submission for the gap 1000 got rejected it was far from an amicable cluster of postings that was going on.

like i said above, if you're not seeking a cert, then do it. no need to come ask someone else on the forums. their answers won't be what you're seeking anyway. most riders think a SS1K is crazy. most IBA people think a 2KDay is crazy and (until you did it) that a Gap1000 was impossible without being extremely dangerous.

ok it seems to bother folks the tag i had in my sig line so i removed it!

also my problem was not that i did not get a cert. for my gap ride it was that"most" folks do speed to get one but after talking with mike i saw his point that i "had" to speed to do mine,no hard feeling now thats why we talked things out!

i was hoping for tips and such for a ride like this but im guessing that being the only one looking to do this type of ride i wont get many,lol

Having only ridden the Dragon and the Cherohala once (the best roads ever IMHO), I am unable to offer any advice other than to say, I think you'll have your work cut out for you to try and maintain 73mph (that's with no stops) on the Cherohala. Faster corners than the Dragon that's for sure, but blind corners at those speeds (in the dark) is a recipe for disaster. Assuming that you can keep your total stops to 1hr, you'll need to average 76mph. It's not your skill I question, but the variables. Kudo's if you can pull it off, but I would think 1500 would still be very challenging and much more attainable. Of course, the fact that I've just questioned the probability of pulling it off has given you more incentive to "go for it" right.

So long as you can do it safely within your limits...I say go for it.

However, if there is a little voice in the back of your head that says...I wouldn't want to do this cuz the margins are too slim for me and I might not get back to my wife/family...then maybe not...only you know.

BTW, if you're doing this as a "manhood" thing...you have nothing to prove on the public roadways. Get on the track and prove that stuff...to protect the innocents.

my manhood thing is providing for my family,this is just fun for me,,,,,the gap ride was shooting for 700 miles the 1k was just a bonus,the skyway ride is 1000+ extra is a bonus,,,,,,,just like to be different,,,,,,,,,

Ahahaha, just kidding yellow wolf. If you feel inspired to do this & "really" feel that you can do it safely, I suppose you should go for it.

The only thing i have to say, Is that the "LA1K" was an insane ride that was pulled off flawlessly. Your ride will be no different on the insanity factor, Just different challenges.

Of course, YMMV. ;)

You're in rarified terriritory my friend...not sure the triple digit numbered type folks or even hard core can offer much advice. I sure can't....but I could tell 'ya some stuff about Nevada. :) You're a helluva a rider that probably kick almost all our ***** on the road.....your 1K ride was stellar. 1750 anywhere is sketchy and doing it on that road for 24 hours sounds like an invitation to the pokey to me. But, do what you think you should.

I'm glad that's true...because that latter part is an important distinction. Might a good rule #3 for fight club.....after #1 and #2. ;)

I say go for it! I will come up and help you. I have ridden the Skyway more times than I can count and have only seen a total of maybe 4 LEO's so I don't think that will be a problem. I Know that my average speed across the Skyway is lower than yours but I have no doubt that you can maintain the needed speed. Heading up there tomorrow and may figure my average just for fun.

 
Are you talking about from Tellico to Robbinsville or just the actual "Cherohala Skyway" part which I guess is 143 on the NC side?
