Last night I left the group from around the campfire laughing and telling tall tales and jokes. What a fun weekend, even with the detour... We had one bad fall, Daniel fell on the Dragon and broke his shoulder, Tom and his wife graciously took him to the hospital in Maryville and I picked him up later. The people at the dragon were nice enough to store Daniel's bike till he comes and gets it tomorrow. He will be going back with Mike and his crew to Ohio. Thanks Mike for the help and support. I was struck by how we all take care of each other, and pitch in and help to solve the problem or situation like a community would do.
The weekend was colder than I would have liked, and we found out it was a rock slide that created the detour from hell... I say that because the ride I had planned was closed at one section due to a rockslide so we went through Pigeon Forge (YUK) and Gatlinburg (GAG) to get to the restaurant. The traffic was backed up and we were in stop and go traffic for about 2 hours. One saving grace was the restaurant had good food (YUM).
We were talking about it around the campfire, the weekend just flew by and it was hard to capture all the moments and events because there were so many and so much fun. Thank you all for coming I had just as much fun as you did, showing you guys the country side.
Here are some pics:
Riding into Tellico at 8am Sunday morning and saw the sun coming over the mountains, had to stop and take a picuture of it and still didn't get the beauty of it. The clouds were creeping up the mountain as the sun was burning off the fog, very pretty.
Waiting at the end of the Foothills parkway on the "Squid Squad" while they ran the dragon. Anson beat them back and pulled in just before we were ready to leave them so we waited another 15 minutes, it was busy with bikes all this weekend. Just when were were tired of waiting and getting ready to leave again they pulled up and off we went.
We ran 21 bikes this weekend and as we rode together it was a safe and comfortable ride from all reports. We lost some bikes in the towns we went through and thanks to Karl and Jim for hanging back and making sure they knew where we were.
As we were going through Pigeon Forge (YUK) Dan and Anson would block off lanes so we could get over and turn in stop and go traffic, thanks for all your help you guys.
Here we are at the cabins getting ready to ride.
I wanted to start taking pictures of people with their bikes and I started off well on Saturday morning and then the day just started rolling along and I got to busy to get everyone.
Anson and his bike: This bike sounds like it will bite you if you get too close...
Derick and his bike: Derick let me ride his bike at the bug bash and I didn't want to get off it.
Here is Roy and his beautiful bike: (Moto Guzzi)
Here is Catt and her awesome flat black V-Rod! I couldn't stop looking at this bike it was so pretty.
Here are Mike and Angie, with Darren and Tina getting ready to ride with me for fried pies, (YUM).
Looking forward to next year already.
