Glad everthing worked out. Did the same thing except on the rear end. After a few days of parking in garage

i kept seeing a little puddle (dime size) of rear end fluid. "Dumb ass that i am" after a couple of days of

wiping it up. It finally sunk in that maybe i should check the bolts. Turns out the top one was only hand tight and starting to

work its way out. LESSON LEARNED

Stay safe Soldier!!! I have two sons that have served and are out now. One of them did two tours over there. Make sure you

come back to ride another day. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

Glad to hear the story had a good ending. Oil+tires=ugly. Being a bike rider there never is lack of help on the road. And I hope to ride that side of the country someday! And thanks for your loyal service to all us here at home so were all safe. Your in our prayers. God Bless. PM. <>< :good:

My father was born in Franklin, NC and raised in Otto! That was a wonderful place 'til all those damn Floridians moved up there for the summer (according to what the old folks used to say back down home. They are all gone now.)

I once had a radiator hose leak on my Volvo in Franklin. The mechanic fixed it and I asked what was wrong with it. He answered, "It's a daumn Voalvo." Very nice people.

Glad you made it back safe, now just get back safely from Afghanistan. Thanks for your service!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm already looking forward to getting home in a couple months and hitting the road again.

OGRE, great ride report and glad it all worked out well. Keep your head down and wits about you and stay safe. Thanks for your service and helping keep us safe so that we can be free to do the things that we take so much for granted, like riding. We'll keep you in our prayers and look forward to reading your next ride report soon. :fans:

+1

Thanks for your service! Get home safe and bring yer buddies home as well.

I did the same thing, but mine stayed in for the trip to work and back home, where I noticed a puddle starting to form under the bike. My first thought was that "damn, something broke", but closer examination showed that i had left the plug hand tight. Fortunately my trip was short enough that the plug did not come out.

This was my first visit to the fabled dragon. I had built it up in my mind to legendary status... but, I found it to be no better that any number of roads in the area. Adding in the heavy traffic, on a rainy thursday afternoon, I would rather ride elsewhere.
I couldn't agree more. The Dragon just isn't "all that" anymore. Last time I went we saw 11 state LEO's and 4 county LEO's.......on top of that, that day they were doing check points on both ends. We got stopped twice in one direction. Back when the limit was 50mph it was good. I'd rather run Blue Ridge, Cherohala or any other number of great roads around that area.

Return safe and thanks!

Hey, make sure you get back here safely OGRE. You've got a ton of riding yet to do.
In all of my travels, I have NEVER encountered a fellow rider who wouldn't give you the shirt off his back to help out in difficult circumstances. Why do you figure that is? You'd think there'd be at least a few weenies among us.

You should see the collection of shirts this guy has. That's why I always wear two when I ride with him.

Ogre, when ya get back, come out west for a while. We've got some roads out here too, and they start at 6 ,000 feet. Or higher. We gotta start giving our roads sexier names.

And thanks for being there, bud. Careful.

Been there and done that. Now that's really slick! (and scary) Glad things worked out all right. You did good keeping it up with all that.

Thanks for your service. My son is in Afghanistan also. Amazing to be able to Email him and text message him. He has a soft cushy job supervising the FBI personnel, there. He is ex-military however (Former Ranger, etc.)

Be safe and

be careful!
