Around here, there's the valley.

And there's the mountains.

In between, there's this country.

Memorial Day weekend, and FNG ScooterActivist and I

were able to find deserted roads and nice scenery.

It was his 50th birthday today.

Ralston area road off Mosquito Ridge. We had it to ourselves.

Steep canyons and these forest roads go right up the sides.

Looking back the way we'd come.

Very pleasant motorcycling.

Occasionally, rocks tumble onto the roadway, and it's best to avoid hitting them.

Don't wanna dent a rim.

OUT there.

Early summer and a long weekend.

Happy Birthday, Sean.

Michael.

you have no idea how twilight-zone your report was

This (memorial day weekend 2010) I was thinking back exactly one year ago ....when I was riding that area with Tyler and her posse(clicky). for me a spontaneous little meet-up that turned into a much longer overnight gigglefest.

I was thinking about how much can change in a year ---no doubt for some folks a lot has happened. But, the beauty of those roads the the sites remains unchanged. Nice you had them to yourself -and even better you got home and shared them with us.

Beautiful country OM. Nice pics. You need a dual-sport my friend! I want you to show me that fire road on a map, it looks yummy! Good of you to show your girlfriend around those parts, but 50 years old  ?

John, I remember that weekend as well. Didn't make the gathering, but heard all about it and read the reports.

Our girl Tyler has a way of making people smile.

BTW, where has RoxxieRae been?

Good of you to show your girlfriend around those parts, but 50 years old  ?
Michael, hopefully you'll get a chance to meet Sean one of these years. He's got a viciously sharp sense of humor,

and you two smartasses would likely hit it off.

Great way to start the day.
Dave! Almost 0700! And you're just starting your day?

....You retirees are something else.

My god but you're a good-looking *******, Old Michael!
Thank you, Don.

Thank you.

And you, yourself, are a devilishly handsome fellow.

:D

Great pictures Old Michael as usual. I am planning a trip to the suburbs of Portland to visit my daughter in July. I want to take at least a few days making my way up there along the California coast. What better way to try out my new Russell seat. Your photos stand to make the anticipation of my trip that much harder to take.

Thanks

Excellent, OM. You weren't too far from a little backwoods range where I like to ride to go shooting. Gonna head out today on the Blackbird. Think I may go up that way, so thanks for the prompt.

The Blackbird will be on the auction block very soon, so this is probably its last ride two up. Farkle reduction surgery begins in the next few days.

Very cool of Sean to ride a big motorbike so as to not embarrass you on the scooter! Man, what a great looking ride that is. I'm heading back north soon to invade your neck of the woods soon.

Way to spend a B-day!

Good pics of places that I should be.

Just remember; Doesn't matter how far you ride, when you get there, there you are.

The Blackbird will be on the auction block very soon, so this is probably its last ride two up.
Rich, I'd guess that Judy won't miss riding on the back of that thing with you.

Does she hafta get really hammered first? :D

Very cool of Sean ....
Yeah, way out of character for him.

He's normally such a **** about things.

Thanks for the comments, boys.

Off to wrench (blech!) and ride :yahoo: .

Decided I can't sit here all day hoping to catch Maria Sharapova eating a banana between sets at the French Open.

(Is that wrong?)

Amazingly, no. She likes riding on it and is the one who suggested taking it out now that I've finally decided I hafta sell it. Something about the power that she really digs, I think.

BTW, even watching Maria S put a banana in her mouth could hurt you. But actually assisting her in that endeavor would likely land you in the hospital.

Beautiful lake. Love to have a kayak on it.

Wow. There's nothing like a beautiful multi-millionairess to arose the lust admiration of men everywhere. I wonder if she has a "thing" for older men. I can offer her a lot. There's the FJR, there's the "Madjack Hundreds" sitting in the bank account doing nothing, there's ..... oh never mind. Maybe some hiccup in the space-time continuum leading to a parallel world where the dark cherry color leads to intense feelings of lust admiration towards handsome average looking middle-aged older men equipped with huge, averaged sized, ever so slightly under sized reproductive organs? Oh well. A man can dream, can't he?

Man, I thinkin' "who is this FNG, 'Scooter Activist' and how did he score the elusive and coveted prize of an early-morning ride with Old Michael?" So it's Sean. Happy birthday.

My god but you're a good-looking *******, Old Michael!

:D

And happy Opposite Day to everyone, too!

Oh, great! So that's where OM was today. I stopped by and you wasn't home. Beemerdons (Actually I think it was JB asking about riding) coordinated a cool ride on another thread, and no one was around. :angry2:  :dribble:

Glad you and Sean had a great time. NoCal looks awesome! Always a pleasant ride report from the OM. ;)

And Happy B-day ScooterActivist. :yahoo:

Wow, yet more amazing scenery! Love those twisting roads in the middle of the greenery! My wife recently lost a bet to me and the wager I made was an all expense fly-and-ride to California! :yahoo: The hardest part aside from paying for it, is deciding on which part of Cali to see! There's just so much area and so little time!

Happy Birthday Sean, what a b-day ride!
