Nice video Fitter although I don't see much liberating going on 'xcept for your souls.

Nice report. I'm headed for Thermopolis today. Hope the Canucks left the town intact.:) :)

Nice video Billy! Enjoyed the ride. Looks like you both stayed between the lines during the whole video. Good job! I see you worked hard to get a viewing angle that didn't show the swelling in your left leg or the scratches on Ray's bike. Well done. Turns out I didn't get the contract job I was looking for and could have joined you. I'm kicking myself.

Great RR Willie, I gotta give ya that 4 sure! ....cool seeing again many of the places I was at last year in July. Many of hawt and kool thermo's going up and down the elevations... makes me quite jealous as I thought that was almost as cool as the awesome scenery.

Jackson Hole was really a neat town, but WAY over priced on everything. Even gas stations were too friggen inflated for us cheap skates, glade you had the coin to enjoy that tho. :)

Ray dropping his bike is the norm. Don't nobody fret, it's his ritual now at every event, and I would consider him a professional at "getting it up". hehe, love ya Ray!

After me showing Debbie this RR, she now thinks she wants to ride out West. Yeah, thanks a lot fellers.

Keep the compound side down, excellent stuff guys, enjoy it fully as I know you will, be safe and Billy knows I own a hardware store with unlimited saws, knives, tree pruners and of course chain saws [plus other limb removing equipment!] ....but seriously Bill, get some med attention please!

Cheers

Are those the stock wheels on Ray's bike? I know it's a Canadian version but I didn't realize they put gold-ish rims on 'em.

Awesome ride, 'Fitter. Keep after it. Just don't show us your 3rd leg, 'k?
Dammitall, Carver. I just threw up a little bit.

And sharted.

Really too tired to post up tonight. We made it to Red Lodge after visiting Old Faithful in Yellowstone. Lots of tourist traffic made us late getting to Red Lodge and I just want to relax and rest.

Nice video Bill. By the way, it looks like your invasion has reached all the way down here to SC...

It's safe to move down here Bill...no need to invade...they have your food.
I seem to recall that us "Northerners" were banned from a certain tech day, which would imply we also aren't welcome to move there. Not that we would anyway, your roads are so freaking boring.........

Ray, I didn't say you were welcome. I said you were "safe".

You just have to love that Southern hospitality.

Just backing up to Tuesday, first thing in the morning on the outskirts of Grangeville we turned onto a road, Mt Idaho Grade that Ray found in Big Sky's book that took into the mountains....

We then turned onto Idaho Hwy 14 that followed the river. It was a most enjoyable warm up in the morning before continuing on to Lolo Pass. We stopped for some breakfast in Kooskia before turning onto US 12 for a very nice ride along another river on the lead up to the Lolo Pass....

DSC_0069-L.jpg

The first part of Lolo Pass was uneventful with lots of passing lanes and we pulled off at a turnoff to check out some of the history of the Lolo Pass...

However, once you reached the Montana / Idaho border the road took on a new perspective and was quite entertaining....

The Jesus Saves chuckwagon in the background is headed for heaven. Unfortunately Ray & I were headed in the opposite direction.

One other photo from the Lolo Pass...

Once we were done playing on Lolo we took Montana 43 stopping in at the Big Hole National Battlefield where the Seventh Cavalry attacked the Nez Pierce Indians. From there we just rode out the day stopping in Dillon, MT for the night.

Day 5 - Dillon to Red Lodge

It was supposed to be a nice short ride arriving at Red Lodge early in the afternoon. I did not take into account Ray's on the fly routing skills.
We did some fine dining for breakfast at Micky D's this morning because Ray likes Micky's D's coffee. Ray also likes ripping the heads off of baby chicks.
We rolled out of Dillon at 8AM and headed east on Montana 41 towards Twin Bridges where we turned on Hwy 287. Ray tried to blast right through Nevada City without stopping but I pulled a move on Ray like Rossi pulled on Marquez and got him to turn around so we could have a Kodak moment....

Not sure why these photos seem so washed out. This photo of an old gold dredger is better....

Ray wanted to take a small detour up to the Big Sky Ski Resort to get a photo as a way of saying thanks to Big Sky who recently tragically pasted away. Ray had used some materials that Big Sky had sent Ray in planning this trip....

DSC_0098-L.jpg

We then continued on to West Yellowstone where Ray made a decision that we should go down to Old Faithful on this day rather than do it during the rally. He also tried to pick up the female park ranger at the gate and started backing up traffic. I had to get off my bike and kick his butt. At first he justed wanted to go to Old Faithful, take a quick photo and leave. I insisted that if we were going to go there we needed to wait for the geyser to blow otherwise all we would see is a hole in the ground and I was not game for that. Jeff and I out voted Ray.

But the tourist traffic both getting there and leaving was tough to deal with.
We finally cleared the traffic and exited the park at the Northeast Gate and headed up the Beartooth Pass. Fun times except when Ray almost got taken out by a SUV that made an unannounced left turn into a pullout just as Ray was lining up a pass. It was close. We stopped at the summit to have a look around...

It was very windy and cool and I almost got blown over so I started heading down the other side and stopped at the lookout that I remembered from the last time I was there...

The chipmunks were still just a brazen as last time I was there too...

DSC_0258-L.jpg

From there We headed the rest of the way down into Red Lodge. George (escapeartist), Jim (Fontanaman) and some of the other PNW crew had arrived earlier in the day and we chatted them up for a while before heading into town for dinner.

Our route for the day....

Great work on the RR Billy. You're probably unfamiliar with the wildlife South of the border. I believe your chipmunk is a squirrel. You guys are doing it up right. I'm still totally jealous. How's the leg?

Looks like a fun day 'fitter! The PNW gang was a couple hours ahead of the "Invasion Force" crossing Beartooth.

Good to see you arrive safely.

If that is a squirrel then I am a Sasquatch...

The anti-inflammatories and the compression stocking is helping and the swelling is subsiding some. It will just take a while since sitting on the bike for hours on end is not helpful to the healing process.

Well Damn! I believe you're right. From the other angle, I could see a bushy tail. Our chipmunks here don't have that. It would be easy to argue you being a Sasquatch though based on the early morning trail cam pic from Geek's tech day last year. OK, it's a chipmunk and you're a Sasquatch.

Give that leg some more TLC.

Don't know you, but your reputation suggests this is an activity undertaken by the Great White North LIBATION Army. Maybe that explains why the US has assembled very few defense forces ....
