Not to take anything away from the radman, but his color is the desert metallic that was offered on the Euro bikes last year while we were getting blue.

how about 50th anniversary yellow and black?

I think he knows. I'm the one that didn't know what the 2006 Yamaha FJR 1300 AS was. What is the "AS" designation?

As no-one has already mentioned this, check out: Paint Jobs

You guys might like this sample:

Gotta say that I'm with Rad on this one. (jeez, did I just say that) The desert metallic floats my boat.

The 50th anniversary paint scheme is great but face it--the fjr looks great in any color!

What is the "AS" designation?

its just the year designation. the "S" is for 06....so the 07 bikes would be av....

mine (an 06 AE) is actually clasified (here in oz anyway) as a AS-V. with the "V" designation being for the Auto clutch.

jason.

ps, if i ever need to respray my bike, im going with the aniversary yellow and black.

My painter would like to stick with one color. I don't blame him, he's not making any money off this anyway, just gonna use it for his portfolio.

So it's down to black

I would like accents but I'm thinking about white with a sticker like this.

I would say Black or the desert metallic. I don't like white that much. You could aslo think about the finish. THere are high gloss blacks and more matte blacks...

Frank will likely be getting painted this winter. I am going with a gold similar to the Desert Metallic, or GM Pewter Metallic, which is damn close

Had a XS650 painted this color, it was beautiful.

Is there a paint code for the GM Pewter Metallic (what brand paint does GM use)? I'm not sure how I would get the paint since I don't have a sample for the shop to color match.

You and your buddy just need to go down to the local paint supplier and look at chip charts . Solid metallics are very easy to paint . If you want something in candy look for a supplier that carries "House Of Kolor" only thing about candies is you need to paint all peices at the same time with the same amount of coats of topcoat over the base color, and if there is a bad spot it is very hard to fix with out reshooting the panel ,because it is transparent . I have been painting for 20+ years and to this day looking at chip charts is still the way to make a desicion on your color. You wil be amazed at the no. of paint books that the counter person will shove at you.

Common GM color, used on Vettes and Camaros, try code 11U, 1999. Any manufacturer will be able to put it together.

I like pie. :dribble:

Ohh and Gunny! Desert Metallic B)

I loved the pearl white paint with light and dark blue and black striping on my '82 CBX:

Now that was a bike!! I was too young (16) and small (90 lbs) when CBX production ended in 82, but is the reason why i have always been attracted to "super sport" tour bikes
