A low-mileage version of the same year as the old bike? Perfect choice.
Bye GS. It was nice to try 'ya out.

Mine too. Well, at least until I started hangin with this bunch of fools traipsing all over North America. Now it looks like a go'er not show'er.My bike used to look just like that!
And...those of us who've read his many posts KNOW his propensity fro allowing his bikes to assume their natural, unbalanced resting position!Brother airboss hit the nail squarely on the head! Also, the color of his R1200GS clashed with his favorite strapless evening gown, high heels and purse! Es Verdad ese!Don't want to put a damper on the love-fest, but that GS is a pretty tall bike. I think Skooter was just afraid of falling from that height
Welcome back Skooter. Nice find.
:yahoo: :clapping:So let me introduce to you FJR#3, a 2004 FJR1300 w/abs:
Good point. I might hafta make him another one.My question is where are you going to put that bandage that says "Stupid hurts"?
For a seven year-old FJR with 4,300 miles, I think a better analogy would be a 50 year-old virgin in a little cerulean silver dress! But a damn hot old MILF of a virgin!..... :yahoo:My God, that Skooter bike is pretty as an 18-year-old virgin walking down the Las Vegas Strip in a little black dress on a Saturday night!
I never 'announced' it. It was a VERY difficult decision for me. I was really partial to the old girl. I was going to buy her back from the insurance company and repair her. But, as I started taking her apart I found more damage. Buy-back price and parts were going to cost about $3,000 to get her roadworthy, and about $4,000 to get her somewhat pretty again. Reason finally won out over emotion and I let her go. Just couldn't justify spending that coin on a 226k bike. In the end, it was probably the best. Insurance gave me a very good settlement amount for her - more than the purchase price of this new virgin FJR. And I was able to remove all the useable farkles from the old girl before turning her over. So I got lots of *free* farkles waiting to go on the new virgin including an Ohlins shock and Twowheelnut's GP suspension front fork internals.Holy smokes, i hadn't heard about the DOW being out for the count.
Well glad I was able to draw you out of your cave! And I appreciate you and all the others picking up on my 'love' for my new virgin. She may not be able to replace the Dirty Ole Whore, but she is a new beginning in hopefully many miles of fun and adventure. Thanks for posting. This is my first real post since I've joined the forum over 4 years ago, I came close many times but never felt any of it was worth a reply, until now. Mabye its the planets and stars, who knows, but thats the best fookin news I've read on this forum. I can feel the love......and its all good.
Hey Scoot,
Like you I have always wanted a GS/A since riding one in Europe a few years ago. I new if I were to do it I would have to have both for a season to make my decision. I figured It would lean towards the GS. I like the ergonomics a lot, Probably wouldn't ride it in the dirt since I own a WR450. I wanted to get away from all the fairings on these sport type machines. Bottom line I can never justify having two street bikes with the amount of riding that I do. I'm glad you gave it a try!!
Not a chance. The virgin is going to be a garage queen for a while. I've got some maintenance and farkling to do and I am in no hurry. FJR#2 with only 55k on the clock is still my primary mode of daily transportation.nice Greg, you gonna ride that to DV?
