The Y chromosome is kaput!

The team's work involved developing stem cells that had XY chromosomes into germline cells — cells that can pass their genetic material to future generations.
These were then prompted to complete meiosis, or cell division, which then produced "fully mature, functional sperm."

Stem cells are immature cells that can develop into different cell types.

The scientists tried to develop cells with XX chromosomes (female) in the same way but they did not progress beyond early stage sperm, called spermatagonia. The team concluded that the genes on a Y chromosome are essential for sperm maturation.
Actually, the article said that using XX chromosome stem cells didn't work out... :p

I read a science fiction series once where females had adapted the ability to store genetic material and become pregnant at will, from a single donor event. They had little use for men, other than that one single instance per breeder.

Pretty scary. They almost took over the world.

Edit: Found it - Destiny's Children by Stephen Baxter. 3 books, I think.

Ok, make up your minds...

Do you want us to live happily, or not?

It doesn't matter what we want........

....if you're going to be happy it's entirely up to you.

We CAN'T....we DO NOT have the ability....to make you happy.

God knows some have tried!

God knows the rest of us have given up!

Peace on Earth, pass the Duracells

The women in my past would STILL find a reason to be unhappy about something......sometime....and it would still be someone else's fault!

Men just seem to be the easiest target to blame for ever ill that comes "some" women's way. If there isn't a particular man nearby...there's always
The Father!...or brother, uncle, cousin....someone...anyone who's a MAN!

I mean, almost every woman knows, "That's the way men are!" Jerks, despicable creatures, cretons, unfeeling and uncaring, insensitive, etc., etc., etc.,
ad nauseum. "If only this society was run by women there wouldn't be the struggles and strife there is today. There would be peace!"

Shyeah....roight! I've heard it all and can quote the mantra back to you. But that won't solve anything. Besides, I recall the "peace" in our house with 3 teenage girls and a pre-teen. Yah! Nobody was ever the "odd man out", nobody was ever considered the "she-devil" and ostracized or shunned, ignored or publicly and purposefully left out of plans. Of course, they made up....until the next time when it was another's turn to be "the blame"....the next day! I learned an entire understanding of the word: vicious! Aannndddd....nobody
suffered from shared the pain of their PMS, either.

I suppose we could all try to accept and understand the differences and clebrate what each side brings to the table...

Nah! Where's the fun in that?

It's much more satisfying to be "right" and have the other be "wrong".

Sheesh MM2. You met some nice, chocolate-loving girls at CFR :flirt:

I would very much like to add my two cents worth to this wonderful Socratic dialog but whatever I say would undoubtedly end up on some piece of paper with numbers down the left margin.

Ohhhh....you misunderstand, my friend.

I loooove the friendship.

I enjoy the conversation. I relish the banter. I can get swept up in the sights of the female form, the "clean" smells that emanate from and surround them, the nod of a head or the look in an eye, the sound of a voice. I'm an incredibly incurable romantic when it comes to ladies and endeavor to treat them all with respect and honor. :wubsmiley:

A safe distance is such a wonderful part of the equation. :stop:

I HATE the pain!
