The same time I bought my '05 FJR 1300 in June she was up to her highest weight...300 lbs. way up from her 1985 marriage weight of l75 Lbs, and way outside our dating weight of 150 lbs at 5' 10".

Yeah, that was 20 years ago, but I have only gained 40 lbs (and I really needed to) from 145 to 185 lbs at 6' even.

What is it about women that think it is OK to gain weight, AND cut you off from "the nasty"?

For the past 8 years I have been riding a 1985 Suzuki Madura 1200 and I had been renting Harleys, with the intent of purchasing the Harley that I fit into. Trouble was, they all drag their hardware, given my riding style. (I really like the newer heritage softail with the counter balanced engine and the new brakes).

I'm a confeseed gadjet guy, and really liked the BMW's with the advanced suspension, but I had read bad reports of the harsh ride. Then in May '05 My boss, a long term harley guy, bought an '05 FJR 1300 and I really liked the technology.

So I bought a '05 FJR in July and have 4000 miles on it...she has lost weight and constantly wants me to do things with her now instead of going out riding.

I suffer through chick flicks and home shows and all types of non-motorcycle crap, but it is worth it...she and I like each other again!!

The Yamaha FJR 1300 has saved my marriage :D

 BBIII, sometimes things work out like we least expect it. If our wifeies are happy, then we tend to be. A small sacrafice to pay and you still have the FJR. What lies ahead only the good Lord knows. Stay the course and you will be surprised. :D Painman.

Thanks "Painman". I became a BAC last year so I know from where you speaketh. The only pain I endure from the FJR is when I get home...

Where have you been? Did you meet any nice women?

Answer: No my ***** Wife , I was out riding. And how do you meet women when you are going 30-50 MPH over the speed limit? Unless they are LEO's who should get a real job :D

Arrggrrh.

I think my relationship with my wife has improved a little since getting the FJR because I now have something that takes me away from the house a lot more. So, she is putting a little more effort into having us do things together when I am at home. Kinda nice.

The real advantage I have found is that my older daughter has caught motorcycle fever from my contagious enthusiasm. She took the MSF and got her license this summer and nows rides my old Maxim. She comes home from school on weekends just to ride with me. And now my youngest (17 years old) is starting to catch the disease. My middle one is strictly into cars, at least so far. I think she got turned off to the bike because we didn't have a helmet that fit her properly. Maybe a nice helmet will be under the tree next month....

Ahhhhhh....

Once again, the Rules of the Universe prove to be true.

I couldn't find it unless I rolled her in flour <_< We're both on Atkins diet, so flour is not allowed in the house

Her rule was "No Harley" so you could say I complied by buying a Yamaha :D

Funny thread and funny post RH.

There is the fine print to that rule though.

**If you make a rule that I don't like or too many rules, I will find new *****.

God bless you...most guys are so whipped by the thought of living nookie-free, they'll accept just about anything short of infidelity.

Its funny -- when i casually mentioned to my wife (2nd wife) that i was thinking about getting a bike (after 20 years of no bike) she uttered something to the effect of, "over my dead body". So i thought about it for a few seconds, and bot the bike the next day. Was she pissed? Absolutely. Now she loves to ride, and loves to see the joy i have taking a spin on the FJR. You just never know

My second wife said "No motorcycle....".

I bought one anyway.

She left (20 years ago).

No complaints.

Just to add my own horrific, ugly tale, Missus Howie #2 and I had 14 years of a really great marriage.

When met, I was a rider. An '84 GPZ900R, to be exact. Rode it for 10 wonderful years, with her enjoying it with me. Got out of riding for a while when mom-in-law got sick and moved in with us so Missus Howie #2 could take care of her. 4 years later, mom passed away. Brother-in-law #2, who had been living with and taking care of mom, "needs" to move in with us and wifey lets him. 4 years later, I'm so    at his lack of getting-the-****-out, I decide to start riding again, just to have a little release and time for myself.

Well, one Sunday afternoon, Missus Howie #2 says "you don't need a motorcycle!" I remind her "I don't need a wife!" and move my fat *** out of the house right there and then, that afternoon. Spent 2 nights sleeping in my car 'til I found an apartment. That was a Sunday. Wednesday, I bought my '02 ZRX1200R.

I sometimes miss her, and she's told me the same, but gawdamn it, don't write checks with your mouth your *** can't cash.

No, but that mouth shore dew luk purdy, don' it?
She has a mouth???

I must have some kind of dislexia. I seem to get lost somewhere around either the T or the Y in the middle line...

This is my first reply on this forum and it would be to this topic. To be honest I dont have a FJR.....yet, I have a 04 GL1800. When I bought the wing I was at the Honda shop and my wife was just getting off work, it went something like this. Ring, Ring, " Hi Honey............Where are you? I'm at the Honda shop...........What are you doing there? Steven is trying to sell me a new Gold Wing.......Do I need to say no? You can if you want but it won't do you any good !!!!!!!!!!!" She enjoys the bike now.

Well before the FJR all I had was the R1. My other wanted a Harley and I said NFW! lol So I compromised and got the FJR (Really not a compromise for me, lol) for her and I to go riding on cause she loves to ride! We enjoy it very much and it gives us something to do that we both enjoy! Sometimes I feel like R1, sometimes I feel like the FJR! A matter of mood! lol

:D :D

In '89 they came out with the new 300ZX. I was in love with it but my wife wanted no part of me having a sports car.

After much consideration I realized there were just two choices:

1) Buy the car. She'll get really pissed. Eventually get over it and I'll have a really cool car.

2) Buy the car. She'll get really pissed. Leave my ***. And what better car to be single with?

Obviously I made the right choice. I don't even miss her anymore. :D :D :D
