NTXFJR posted: Ok, maybe technically it is, only sort of not. I'm looking for experienced opinions that have gone through their Gen III oem Bridgestone Battlax tires. How many miles of slab riding can one reasonably expect from a set of these?
First thing to note is that the tires on the bike when delivered are not quite the same tires you can buy later. As in, the Bridgestone T023s on FJRs at delivery are not to the same specs as a Bridgestone T023 you buy from a tire dealer.

That said, I got almost 10,000 miles out of my OEM 'delivery' T023s.
That's one of those things that make you go hmmm... Why on earth do mfg.s spec OEM tires that are inferior compared to the off the shelf replacements with the same model number? Why don't they just use the good ones to start? Are the OEM spec tires that much cheaper? If so by how much?

I think there are way too many variables in those questions to answer them objectively. Riding styles, road surfaces, etc. Which I guess means I should qualify my own experiences. For my riding style, under my riding conditions, on the roads I frequently ride, the Michelin tire is just far better. Both the center and edge compounds wear longer and more evenly. Even considering the higher cost of the PR tire, it still falls cheaper per mile to use.

I do think that putting cheaper tires on vehicles is a cost saving measure for manufacturers. For cages, that also applies with batteries.
