...I'd also hope that LEOs would treat a phone call report like any other unsubstantiated complaint: i.e. Take it with a grain of salt...And even still, a report of a speeding motorcyclist isn't one you'd expect to have to spread eagle on the ground for.
The way the Kinston cop explained it to me is that the person phoning in the complaint must identify themselves and use some form of the phrase "creating a safety hazard". If they get the key words like "safety" and "hazard" they are obligated to investigate the call.

pulling over a car going 110mph very late at night…He called it a felony stop whatever that is.
Most states have a line of demarcation where a speed infraction changes from a Misdemeanor Reckless Endangerment to a Felonious Reckless Endangerment. A lot of years ago I ran afoul of NY State Troopers over this magic line. I believe in MA the magic number is 100 mph. Once you are tagged with Felonious Endangerment you get to wear handcuffs, be housed and fed by the State, and have your vehicle impounded.

The estimated speed of my motorcycle which was reported to the Kingston cops was well into the Felonious range, and the swell fellows in the big yellow truck used the ‘endangering public safety’ phase. It was the Felonious speed that caused the cop to respond by also driving his cruiser into this range to catch me. The cop did mention that when he first went past me going the other direction that it appeared ‘I had slowed to a speed near the speed limit’ :glare:

Actually, I did get something out of this. I never knew the keys thing. Then again, someone would only ever try a SLOW getaway on my motorcycle :p .

unfortunately a lot of people will observe his inane behavior and associate motorcycle riders with that kind of behavior. More than anything else people like him are why responsible bikers need to be at least somewhat politically active to protect our freedoms.

that guy would be an ******* no matter what he was doing. If he was a florist he'd be an ******* florist.

The gene pool needs a little chlorine.

This jerk is fated to be roadkill somewhere down the line.

Just hope he doesn't take anyone else with him.
