So far mine has been in the shop for just shy of 4 weeks.

As of my call on Tuesday. the bike was going back together and they were waiting on a few shims to finish up the valve adjustment.

I hope to pick it up on Sat. <_<

Wow, I do not want to have my bike in the shop for multiple weeks now that riding season is just cracking open for me. I am supposed to take mine into Sunnyside and was told it would only take a couple of days. Maybe since they've done quite a few of these repair jobs it's becoming old hat for them. Judging from the excellent packaging job they did on the tire I ordered, they're pretty conscientious about how they do things there. Right now I'm just waiting on a call from them to let me know when they have the necessary parts on hand before I truck my bike 200 miles to their shop. . .but in any event, when they do call, I think I'll be discussing with them the likelihood of a longer-than-anticipated repair job.

Its not the repair that takes the time. It is the diagnoses of the problem. Then waiting for clearence to do the job. Then waiting for parts. Then waiting for the head to come back, some outsource the head and valve replacement. The actual teardown is only a couple of hours as is reassembly. So if Sunnyside has parts and they have a quick source for the head work, then it is only a couple of days.

Fretbender,

Whatever Sunnyside takes to get the job done will be time well spent. You can't go wrong there. Get 'er dun!!!

True enough, and that is why I'm taking it there instead of somewhere closer. . .like the dealership 3 blocks away from my house (good people, but not at all familiar with the FJR.) I'm just thinking that if, for whatever reason, it may take longer than a couple of weeks, I would rather schedule the fix for October. But I'm probably just being an alarmist. Sunnyside was talking about maybe me staying in a hotel for a couple of days during the work, so they must have pretty good confidence in their ability to get it done quickly. Of course, the other side of the coin is my ability to get away from the home on 2 separate weekends, for nearly a full day, for the drop-off & pick-up. It seems like my calendar fills up rather quickly in spring-time. We'll see though, and I shouldn't forget, it hasn't even been "officially" diagnosed so they may tell me I'm crazy and send me packing when they see/listen to the bike. :haha:

Sunnyside may have an arrangement with Cypress so they don't have to get permission every step of the way. If they have the parts in stock and ready to roll once they confirm the noise, it could very well be done in a couple or three days. As long as they're not charging you, no worries!

Fretbender, you have a great shop in mind. They will give you a knowledgable evaluation and know what to do. Tough call about whether to stay over or drop off. I rode over last October from Boise for a 26K valve check and several other tedious maintenance items and did an overnight stay. Worked out fine. Unless they've moved to their new location, motel is right next door, cheap rates, knows FJR riders cause we've swarmed the place from time to time. There is an excellent Mexican restaurant nearby....

Another rider from Boise trailered his FJR there for the tick fix last winter. He dropped it off, came back later. I think I would also do this just because it would put less pressure on everyone's schedule. Never know what might crop up. It will be worth the extra day out of your life for the return trip, IMO.

They haven't moved anywhere, their new location in Prosser is just an empty lot as of yesterday. They hope to be in Prosser in June but someone needs to start construction soon if that is going to happen.
