Glad to see I'm not the only one who rides one of those snow machines here on this forum. I ride a Polaris Pro-X2 however. Hope you don't hold that against me. Love your work area. Wish mine looked like that. If it doesn't snow again here in the North East at least I have a 4 wheeler (a Yamaha of course).

Well since i talked about the new sled I figured I would post a couple pic's.

Not just yet. I was out on the FJR for about 50 miles today. And I'm hoping to go up to Park Rapids tomorrow for one last run up their. So, do you want to meet up their or do you have yours put away already.

Mike,

Mine is all taken apart with this new group buy. Have forks packed up and ready to send to GP sepension for a complete fork rebuild. So bike go nowhere right now.

You should be thinking snow anyway.

Nice Renegade. That is definitely my next sled. This short track sled is really a handfull in the deep snow up in Canada. I pretty much stick to the trails except where there is some packed base under the powder. It will bury itself pretty quick in deep powder.

It's coming along. I'm waiting for some parts at the moment....and putting up Xmas decorations...LOL.

I found that I REALLY dodged a bullet on my sled. The crank seal was had pushed about 3/4 of the way out and had leaked air enough to pull almost all the grease from the power take off bearing set. That was also a "known" problem that showed up on the first year 800 REVs. I had watched mine pretty carefully and hadn't noticed it creeping out. It must have happened over the last day of the last trip we were on. I just remember that the last 3 miles before it went on the trailer after the last ride was WOT across Wawa Lake..... I'm amazed I didn't burn it down. New seal installed. I also fabbed up a little retainer ring to keep it from pushing out again.

Once all the parts are in and back it will go back together pretty quick.

I had my FJR out for a short 50 mile ride today (Wed) also. It was above 50 here in Detroit. I was winterizing some of the yard equipment and took the FJR out for a quick ride with a little 20:1 premix in the tank to "fog" the motor and exhaust for the winter, drained the oil and it is sitting in the basement ready to take a nap.

I do like my shop and thanks for the comments. It is crowded and messy but pretty functional and "homey" feeling. My wife always knows where I am.....

I test drove a Yamaha four stroke last winter. After that ride, I think my current sled will be my last 2-stroke. I guess I've just lost the soft spot in my heart for them.
Looks like you're having fun though - more power to ya! And that story about the fuel fire was freaky! Think I'll go get more fire extinguishers soon!
Bought a couple of 4 stroke triples from Yamaha last year...no more two strokes for me :yahoo:

cota95,

I seriously thought about getting a Yamaha Apex RTX with the R1 motor in it, but it was just to heavy for the type of riding I do. If I was just a trail rider I would own that sled in heartbeat.

Let's all pray for snow.....

Haven't had any real off-trail riding with my Apex, but it is a sweet trail sled! They sure don't feel as heavy as you'd think once you ride it!

Now, if Yamaha comes out with a larger engine in the Phazer chassis-that would be a fun ride!

The weight thing is more the competitors marketing tool than fact. I'm telling ya those sleds are smooooooth!

Boys I have ridden the Apex for a whole day and enjoyed it alot, but I like to play in the ditches and back country. Riding it was a pain in the *** for doing this. You really feel the weight in the back country when you turn mainly by leaning the sled instead of turning the skis.

Plus hitting those field approches at 40 MPH you really notice that extra weight when you land.......... :D

Yes it is smooth and has great power. If I trail rode more then I do I would own one in a heartbeat. Who knows what Yamaha will come up with for next year, but if they do what everyone wants and puts a 120 HP engine in the new phazer chassis. I might just have to have two sleds......

Later,

Dana

SNOW PLEASE...
