https://www.mtsma.com/ Thank you, ahchui! But Brother, I have go to get something straightened up with you: You fully expect me to ride with a FJR crew that consists of Niehart, Panman, Barabus, OCfjr, blufjr, DABRIT, MCRIDEROO7, Beamer Reamer, 650cent and SockMonkey? Hombre, I may have low standards; but Jesu Cristo, there're not that freaking low-ese!

Barb, I am going to hold off on posting any dates for SW-FOG 2010 until I see how this thread develops per the trip dates.

I really want to ride Vancouver Island again, to tell you how long it has been since I have been to the Island by motorcycle:

When did Alaska Marine Highway and British Columbia Ferries stop making a voyage up the Portland Canal to Hyder, AK and Stewart, BC? I had ridden up to Port Hardy on my BMW, then over from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert. I had boarded my BMW and was sitting in the lounge with my first Molson, when the Skipper announced that this would be the last ever public ferry voyage up the Portland Canal to Stewart-Hyder. That the Canadian and American ferry lines were cost cutting!

Wednesday night SkooterG, GSJane and "regular cast" of AZ FJR Forum members are meeting to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings.

BWW is just a mile from my house, I'll ask SkootyG to show me how to set up a poll in regards to timing of SW-FOG 2010.

1) August 26-29. 2) September 9-12. 3) Dates that will not interfere with Barb's Vancouver Island Run in early September!!

... or even some them weird Albertans ;) , might brave the salt air, who knows?...
I was sitting here disheartened 'cuz you only invited BC and PWN riders! :p

You actually beat me to the punch. With CFR2010 in Quebec in June, I had started looking into locations to hold a "Western Canada Region" rally at some other time in the season. With your suggestion, count me in and I'll stop looking! May is still a little chilly getting over the pass but... (its not Friday is it?)... I could trailer my girl to the warmer side of the rocks. Sept would be awesome. CFR as my first big trip of the season and the Island as the last! :yahoo:

Beemerdons,

Yea I know there a motley crew but Neihart know where the best pies shacks are located, check out the PNW tech meet pictures, we had to stock up on pies so everyone can get there slice or two. I went to Taos, NM and stayed @ Kachina Lodge with the Honda ST.Owners group two years ago it was a great trip.

You thought YOU felt left out :dribble: Here I am way over here in Minnesnowta thinking Vancover Island sounds even better than NAFO. I could just squeeze this one in I think, date dependant. Of course the earlier you set the date the more likely people can get their vacation set (hint, hint)

ahchiu, Kachina Lodge is a great place to base Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado rides out of! I was just there this September for the Sipapu BMW Land of Enchantment Rally. I am also Ridemaster for SW-FOG 2010 and I have a killer route laid out for Friday: Taos to Tres Piedras, Tierra Amarilla, Chama, Antonito, San Luis y Questa; and then back to Taos.

Saturday's ride of SW-FOG 2010 will be Taos, Eagle Nest, Angel Fire, Guadalupita, Mora, Penasco and to Taos. Muy Bonita!!!

I actually like hanging around Niehart, the crusty old bastard is even older than I am; and he does have a nose for good pie!

Footnote: As Rallymaster for SW-FOG 2010, event is going to be held beginning of September. A lot of the Pacific North Westerners such as Niehart, bluefjr and others have said they are coming to Kachina Lodge in Taos, New Mexico 9/9/10.
My brother and I have often talked about going to Taos to ski but have yet to make it down there. It didn't even occur to me as a riding area but makes sense! Unfortunately SW-FOG 2010 would be tough to make but Taos will be added to my "Gotta look into..." list!

https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?topic=2097.0 Hi Jeff, A very good friend of SkooterG, GSJane and many other members of the AZ FJR Forum is Jo Smee - azgsgirl, formerly azducgirl when she rode her Ducati ST2. Jo put together a nice Ride Report with great photographs and thought you might enjoy looking at it. Heavy on BMW pictures, try not to puke!

Oh Barb....look what you have started now. Looks like we will have some visiting FJRs on the Island next year. I will have to buy an FJR by then for sure! It is so much fun just lurking though, especially watching and reading dogpiles. Time to pull the trigger soon!

As long as there are some good pies [sorry Barb  ] I'm in.

Don you know I have room for you & son at my shack. Only because I like your son!

You could ride the FJR and I will take the duck.

Barb, your my hero :fan_1:

Dave: Seth and I would take you up on your offer! By the way, I sent you a PM earlier on Death Valley Daze January 22.

If you wanted to, you could fly into Phoenix and ride either my BMW F650GS Twin or my Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide.

David "Orestes" Clarke is flying in from Chatham, England on 1/19/10; he is riding my FJR to DVD and then on to see Big-D.

Wow....................

First of all, my sincere apologies to those who felt excluded. I truly didn't expect anyone farther than a stone's throw from the ferry to have any interest. My bad.....

I have to say, I am same page with Jeff in wanting to kick off the season with CFR, and wrap it up with an Island jaunt in Sept. My intent was just to offer interested folks a little look at my neighbourhood and what it has to offer for rides and scenery.

But Jeff? I DO NOT want to ruin your plans for a Western Canadian Regional Rally with this. You have my feelings in PM about this. At the same time, since you and some other wonderful folks have offered their assistance, I also have no problem with ramping this baby up a notch and even extending it a day if people are interested in seeing more.

If it is well received, I am also game to make it an annual thing, big or small.

BCDH4 and BCDH8 are minutes from my driveway, and those are just the roads nearby......this is a big island.

I haven't been on the Island since 1995, but still remember the curvy road over to Tofino. I was pulling my 22' Starcraft for a little salmon and bottom fishing. Would love to ride my black cherry beauty on those roads. I don't like rain, and May is usually a pretty wet month.

You say 'fishing for interest' and you use Vancouver Island as bait, I'll bite. I've driven to Victoria and loved it. CFR2009 was awesome but I just cant make the 3,000 miles to CFR2010 so this should be perfect! Sept is looking good.

Barb,

You might have a couple more to fit in, we have always talked about "doing" the island so this would be a great opportunity. Although you have to set up some rides for us old slow pokes, you know it's really difficult to corner when your walker frame keeps touching down.

Keep us informed of the details and we will try our utmost to get there. September sounds good for us too.

Beemerdons my man, I resemble that remark, hey get your sorry butt up here and ride with us poor PNWer's, we could do with some culture :dribble:

Don, it would be fantastic if you could make it up for this ride - don't mind the pie smuggler. Did I remember correctly that your sons alternate every other year? So perhaps brother of Seth? Maybe I'm still addled from the frigid ride the other week.

Regarding SW-FOG: Great to hear your helping/leading that this next year, our group is strongly considering putting that on our ride list for 2010. It will depend on dates of course but we have very strong interest and Taos is a great venue. I'll wait until you get a post going for that one to discuss further. Would be nice to somehow use the weekends on both ends for traveling. Hope all is well.

David

Late to the party as usual...count me in for definite interest. Would love to come up and ride the island and see some new sights. Timing is everything, we'll see how this develops. Thx for taking on this challenge Barb.
