As long as your knee won't hinder your ability to ride, then GO FOR IT!

At least for as long as you can endure the pain (if any). I know I would, especially if the riding has been so limited as you claim with another few weeks of recouping ahead.

**** I'd ride until my knee falls off.... what the heck...you need surgery anyway! ;)

What kind of knee surgery did you have? I had my ACL replaced and went to my doctor's appointment 10 days after surgery. When he saw my helmet he said "Tell me you didn't ride here." I told him yes I did. He asked me how I stopped. I told him "Not with my feet." I brake, stop and then put my foot down.

He said your knee may feel good, with no pain but it is a VERY weak joint right now.

I told him I would stay off for a couple of more weeks. During rehap it really showed how week it really was. But after a couple of weeks it was much stronger and I went back to riding.

I am just having a little nip and tuck, torn Miniscus and a couple other things............... ArtistOnFJR (Chris) will be over in a few... His baby needs new feet so gonna spoon some rubber on his bike first.. heheheheheheh

Yea. Prolly a short shot up and down the canyons tomarrow.... This workin on the bike thing usually requires beer, and that means no riding for me at all.... Yepp. Thanks guys.... Tomarrow I shall indeed

turns out no riding.... I sat on the bike and I cannot get my knee to bend enough to get it on the peg.... It binds up... So I was NOT!! ATTGATT and rode up and down my street in a straw hat, flip flops, shorts, and my leg hanging off the side with my robo brace on, foot just above the ground.... No need to shift, even though it is an AE..... It was a 90 second goodbye to my gorl for about the next 6 weeks. The neighbors seemed to understand as I puttered by and waved at me

**sniffle**

Good choice! BTDT, you know.

1) Leg won't bend and doesn't feel "normal"....extremely ungood! That means you are straining parts and pieces that shouldn't be in that position.

2) Knee is the weak link. What would you do should the bike start to fall that direction? Should you set your foot and it slides out on sand or gravel?

Even though your desire to ride is very strong, you know that if you're less than 100% it isn't the best choice.

Sorry, friend!

I had my ACL replaced last May. I was off my crutches within a week and wanted to get on my bike by week two. I was riding a VTX 1800 at the time, so there were no reach issues. My wife talked me into waiting until about week 3 before I jumped on the bike. Doc was ok with it, so long as I was careful with the knee. The weight and stress put on the knee are pretty minimal unless you drop your foot in a slide or something. It never gave me any issues and I picked up my FJR before I even stared PT. The therapist would laugh every time I rolled up on my FJR. Couldn't believe I was already riding. I say just be careful and know your limits.

Yep, I know I made the right decision but it Sucketh.....

I was just trying.... It felt WAY!! strange to putter up and down the road in flip flops.... Wind at a blistering 20mph wanted to tear my straw hat off, whoda thunkit....

So I fixed the irrigation system, sprinkler system, re-welded the gate, and a few other minor things.... LOL But none of that requires bending my knee

You made the right decision, for sure.

I had a similar choice, last summer after getting some hardware put into my neck. Doc said to wear the hard brace for a month, then I could take it off, thus be allowed to drive. He did NOT mention motorcycles at all, but to be fair to him, neither did I. The invite to an FJR lunch meet was irresistible. I hadn't ridden for almost two months. What a ride it was! I loved every minute of the 120 miles or so.

Then I spent about five days, unable to move, in tremendous pain. When I finally dragged myself to the computer, I learned about the risks I had unknowingly taken. Sure, I was wearing ATGATT, but I had an unstable spine. Duh!

Thankfull, the Man Upstairs was looking out for me.

Jill

how is said spine now Jill?? Better I trust
Much better, thanks. I get an ache every now and again, usually in response to doing something energetic (which is a great excuse to avoid such things).

We've just got home from the first serious ride since the surgery. 440 miles today, for a total of about 1100 miles over a long weekend. No problems with my neck, other than a slight ache during the latter part of the ride.

BTDT all it takes is one demand that your bad leg do something to save your *** and it's all done but the screaming.

Get the surgery. Do the rehab. Get healthy, ride healthy, stay healthy.

Carver, You are a frigen nutcase... LMAO... Yea, I was thinking duct tape.

Bounce.. Wilco.... I got it...

Jill, MONDO glad you are now back in the saddle.

I shall wait by the sidelines, living vicariously through the posting here
