Glad you are OK my friend, despite my flippancy - I am glad things turned out and your decisions were guided the way they were, by whatever higher power (we both know your brain isn't that higher power

). As for why your are wondering why you are still alive? Hmm. I dunno, don't you owe me some money or something??

Ride safe!

Thank you. We have a date to think about motivating toward planning a ride sometime before wet and cold come along....

Well, I wouldn't have guessed correctly for what happened in your case.

But in DC and playing repeatedly around the East Coast, the correct answer, good for one serious ride to the hospital or morgue of your choice would be:

The ***-hat red light runner coming from the left, possibly obscured by the truck!

Probably texting while he sailed across.

I don't know what it is about the east coast cities (not just DC), but I see far more red light runners anywhere else in the country.

Anyway, glad that you are still on the bike and OK.

Peace, Hans. The pace of life has sped up so greatly in recent years, that is, the pace of people interacting with people, that it wouldn't at all surprise me were I to learn that we each go through such incidences far more often than we think.

Perhaps your particular experience was that you happened to be "aware" enough in that moment to put two and two together and recognize the significance of your spontaneous choice. Fret not. Just consider all of the other incidences that also didn't happen and of which you were clueless...

Whether in the cage or in the car, my self-induced mishaps have always come when I was in a hurry. So is it luck or a higher power? When that happens, I don't wonder. Humbly, I say "thank you" and carry on. So whatever the reason it worked out the way it did, be thankful, learn from it and carry on. Glad it didn't turn out worse for you.
