After several years of researching the different sport touring I came to the conclusion there really is only one....the FJR. I have been reading this forum for the last 2 years and have read your balanced views. I bought a new 09 today and will be picking it up Friday. I still have snow on the ground here in Maine but I dont care. I plan to order my 1st farkles tonight but I'm not sure what yet...definately sliders

Huge, huge mistake! You should have looked less and bought the best year FeeJ made, a 2005. Now you got that cruddy new one. Oh well, enjoy. :p
Congrats!!! Now farkle up and ride. ;)

Cool! Fellow Mainer here (currently stationed in Tennessee). You must be in "the county" if you still have snow. My folks are in Auburn. They haven't seen snow in a while. I have the same bike as you. Don't go insane trying to decide what farkles, man. The bike is perfectly fine in a farkle-free state. The farkling is just a great side-hobby. Or is it a disease? I dunno, but I caught it already. By the way, that is one disturbing avatar you have there......unless its really you. If it is, you look perfectly normal and not weird at all.

Thats my senior picture when I was a young feller,,,,,, YOu should see my mother! :clapping:

My sentiments exactly! I did the same and bought a new 2007 in 2008 in April and have never regretted my decision in the least bit. MY FJR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT THE BEST AND ALL MY RIDING FRIENDS ENVY MY BIKE EVEN THOUGH THEY ALL TRY TO GIVE ME **** BUT YOU KNOW DEEP DOWN THEY WISH THEY WERE SMARTER AND GOT THE FJR TO BEGIN WITH!

Great choice on the bike- and I agree with you that you get sliders on that bike right away- as you know from following this forum, most members have dropped their FJR at least once- usually in the garage or home driveway- the frame sliders make what could be a major "uh, oh" to an "oopsie."

I have the motovation sliders on mine- and my bike is actually the silver one in the pictures on their site!

See: https://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/Scrip...p?idproduct=180

I have had these on my 03, 06 and now 2010 FJR (talk about an FJR disease!)

As recommended in this forum, I put sliders on mine, before I even rode it! My driveway, like most, has a slight incline to drain water away from the garage. ONCE, I warmed up the bike while it was on the side stand, "pointed down" on the driveway. While it was warming up I noticed that a very slight "push" on the bike would cause the bike to move forward off the stand!!! So, now I always warm it up on the center stand, and when using the side stand in other locations I always put it in 1st gear, and roll it forward or backward to take up the "slack". Most of the time I use the center stand, to reduce the chances of a "stopped" tip over.

Take care, Bob

Best Color EVER! Blk/Blk!

I put the (can't remenber brand...something racing) black crash bars instead of sliders.
