Well, if you ride from Paso Robles like I did, you get to ride along "Rossi's driveway", and then Rt. 58 east...which is a nice ride. Then you get to this bar decorated with pennies everywhere...and I mean everywhere. The food is good as well, portion sizes are huge. Then you top it off with a nice ride back on 58 to Paso R...or wherever else you were going to go.
I would call Rt 58 scenic...with a lot of fun thrown in.
******* Engineers, that is why we Fitters always shoot them before starting to build a power plant or a semi conductor facility. Here you go Gramps, details:

https://www.motorcycleroads.us/regions/ca_ccoast.html Highway 58, 41, 33, 229 and 166!

Yeah, figures Beemerdons would cuss out a guy who started out life after high school as a pipefitter's assistant. I'm not holding pipe for pipefitters anymore so go fook yourself daddy Donnie.

Have a great time in Kali there gramps. You may need to rethink this ride and extend your stay until May...Snow and Cold are calling your name from the great white north....

Marky-Mark, did Richard lead You and Karl on Tepesquet Canyon Road when you two visited Kali? I know we were all constantly criss crossing over from the Coast to the San Joaquin Valley and back again. That was a great trip, had a Smile a Mile with a Ton of Laughs! JSNS, Yippee!

Thanks wheatie. I'll have to do some planning.
I assume you've already hit 33 and 166 and some of those Canyon roads with names not numbers north and west of Santa Barbara.

...and that you have the road number for Rossi's little driveway...229 I think it is.
I wouldn't recommend going very far WEST of Santa Barbara. Could get ugly. Damn flatlanders anyway.

Wow, thanks guys that looks awesome.
I sure miss California motorcycle riding, spent the first 41 years of my life there (except for two years overseas in the US Army!). Here is another fantastic ride: Nacimiento-Fergusson Road to Highway 1, somewhere on our Fine FJR Forum Donnie Boy Carver has an excellent Ride Report.

PLEASE NOTE: You cross the Fort Hunter Liggett Military Reservation on this Ride, after my active Duty when I was in Active Reserves I fired M102A - 105mm towed Howitzers on this firing range. You must have up to date documents to enter this Post: Current Photo ID, Drivers License for sure, but after 911 I also carry my US Passport. Current M/C Registration and Insurance Documentation, I remember when dcarver led us on this ride one of the Group had both his Registration and Insurance Card expired: They would not let him in, we met up with him later in Salinas. Also if they are in a "live fire" mode, you may have to wait until the Artillery Units have a "cease fire"!

Uh Ray...you know that Santa Barbara is on the NORTH side of the beach at that location, right?

Danged Oregonian Reuben sniffers....

Yo Raymond, Wheatie is 100% correct on this one; US Highway 101 from Ventura up to the Gaviota Pass runs a true East to West through Santa Barbara, SB is definitely on the NORTH Side of the Beach! JSNS, Oregonians smoking that Roseburg Reefer!

Met up with Steve (03silverbullet) last Wednesday who gave me a slightly different tour of the area. We met just northeast of Lake Elsinore & rode up 74 to a little shack restaurant for brunch that overlooked the lake...great views:

After some great food we headed southeast on 74 towards the coast for a beverage stop.

We rode the Coast Hwy towards LA to Seal Beach then decided to turn back & head for home. Steve has a high mileage bike (267,000) that still runs great.

Thanks Steve for showing me the sights!

Old Michael Notice: Meet Gramps and Papa Chuy Viejo at Gold Canyon Shell Station in 2.5 hours, breakfast at Los Hermanos in Superior followed by a loop ride!
