Torque steering head bearings

I'm to lazy to get out the book but you run them down tight and move the stem back and forth to push out excess grease . Then back them off and torque again. I usually go 22-24 ft lbs or a moving torque of 18-20 inch pounds

 
From the 07 manual which I believe is the same for the 03 model:

Lower ring nut
1. First, tighten the lower ring nut to approximately 52 Nm (5.2 m·kg, 37 ft·lb) with a torque wrench, then
loosen the lower ring nut completely.
2. Retighten the lower ring nut to 18 Nm (1.8 m·kg, 13 ft·lb) with a torque wrench.
