Question: What do you get when you take a goldwing rider who just bought an FJR and stick him on an supermoto track with CBR125s, supermoto bikes & a gaggle of R6s? There were also some Buells, Ducatis, etc. I wonder why I was the only one there on a 500+lb touring bike?

Answer: A f-ing RIOT!!! What a blast.

It only took a few laps before I needed to heed FJRPierres' advice (hang-off the side), as my virgin footpegs were both getting scuffed up - proper. Mission accomplished. I needed to be able find the 'reasonable' limit of the FJR and lose the chicken strips.

It's a fantastic twisty tight track. Trackside, I noticed a girl with a Nikon D80 taking pics of her boyfriend so I shot her $20 to shoot some of me. Boy did she oblige. I'd love to post a few pics of my naked FJR carving around this track in such a mixed crowd of bikes but I'll have to figger-out photo bucket or some other place to host my pics (thanks for the tip dcarver) Sorry, I'm a forum noob.

3 accidents that day but nothing serious. More importantly, none of them were me, heh heh. Some guy wiped out his Ducati monster pretty good. He lives here in Mtl (1.5 hours from the track) but rode his bike up north so he was screwed. I rode my track-prepped (IE illegal) FJR home so he could shove his busted duck in the the van for the trip home. Poor guy.

Best part of the day: being stuck behind younger riders on R6s through the chicanes... and finally getting to the back 'straight'

GREAT day, lots & lots of fun. Even on a tight supermoto track, you GOTTA love the torque of an FJR.

Andre~ I'm glad it was such a positive and fun experience for you!

Good on ya for taking your new bike to the track to learn more about it's (and your) limits... the smart way to go, and a whole lot safer. :drinks: :coolsmiley03:

It was very nice of you to give up your spot in the transport van so the dude with the ruptured duck could get home. Glad you didn't get ticketed for the illegal bike on the way home - that would have been so wrong!

Do you plan to make track days a frequent thing, or was it just to explore the limits this one time? Looking forward to hearing more about the experience.

Ride Safe!

Glad you had a good track day. Probably the only day it didn't rain in the last month eh? (or did it rain where you were, where was that Tremblant? Thanks for the report. Need pics! Doing more? I only did one track day on my FJR because I had a little diesel fuel laydown shortly thereafter and found out how expensive it is to fix even a minor lowside.

about the rain: You said it. Unbelievably, despite the forecast, there was no rain and it was nice & cool so full leathers weren't painful to wear all day.

The track is Mecaglisse clicky east of tremblant, south of St-Donat

I didn't want to learn the lesson you learned the hard way so that's why I was riding her naked - looked pretty cool, actually. Gotta figure out photobucket and post some pics

Sigh... now it's time to go outside and put her all back together. Back to the real world :(

I'd love to do other track days but honestly, when the younger crowd started getting more aggressive and wiping-out mid afternoon, I called it a day because I had accomplished what I set out to do and I didn't want my spotless all-original '03 to go home in pieces. The wounded duck was the signal, lol.

If I knew I could do a track day with a group of sensible & more experienced riders where I wouldn't fear being taken out by a frustrated teen, I'd be in.

Since I'm a forum noob, I have an etiquette question: about "looking forward to hearing more about it"

I could write-up a storm and post an illustrated editorial about the day, the track, the bikes etc... But aren't verbose posts frowned-upon?

WOW. That is cheap track time!! Its 300 bucks here..

Sport Bike

Asphalt
included
100.00$ with membership card*115.00$ without membership card*
Now I need another bike so I can declare a road trip!!

You think a slight lowside getoff is expensive.. LOL.. I am here to tell you a full on lowside will total an FJR

Phuck Dude...

We live for posts like that..

Put it is "Ride Reports" and the Admins will give you all the bandwidth you need!

This is not your "normal" board. This is a place where ego has no place.. and noobs are welcomed.. If you get out of line, you will get dog piled, no worries

dogman

would you be willing to spend 5 minutes with me? If I sent you a gotomeeting link (I use them for webinars for work) where you log-in and are watching what's going-on on my PC, and I'd call you by phone to speak.

I have a few questions on HOW to do what you're talking about, as well as posting pics.

If you're in (or anyone!!!!)...... [email protected]

the reward will be seeing the most ridiculous-looking FJR you've ever seen being chased by R6s, supermotos etc...

Andre~ I'm with Cdog on this one. Any post that is well crafted and informative is welcome here. Some of the folks specialize in "One Liners", others, such as I, tend to be a little wordy. I've never been called on the carpet for long posts, and haven't heard of others who have either.

We're all here to have fun and learn in the process. You write good, readable stuff, which doesn't have to be "translated" from pesudo text messaging abbreviations, etc... Rock On and have fun, Eh!

Need pictures,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :clapping:

I'm trying. As suggested by others, I went on photobucket and did manage to upload the pics. But when I try & post them, I copy in the URL to the pic on photobucket and I get an error when I try to submit the post.

Texan is supposed to walk me through posting pics but is having some technical difficulties at home.

The irony in this is is I work for a software company and I cannot get anything to work right on this site :(

You're not alone in having problems posting pictures, my friend! I would volunteer to help you, but it's been so long since I tried it myself, I can't recall offhand how to do it either!

On the off chance, give this a try... Google search is the best way to find something on this site, so enter the following:

posting pictures site:fjrforum.com

That should give you a walk-through of the process, but if it doesn't, try a few other possibilities for the search string (posting pictures) and see what you come up with.

Good luck,

Don

I am SOOOO jealous!!!! I can't wait to see the pics and read the story (detailed) of the day. Perhaps a track day could be arranged at Shannonville??? Glad it was fun for you, and you kept it on two wheels.

The only problem I found with the url photobucket gives you is that it already has the img tags on it. So you can just paste it into your post, without using the "add image" button in the toolbar. If you use the button, then you have two sets of img tags, which doesn't work. Hope this helps.

oh the feej on the track is a blast. Took mine to WSIR once, poor 600's didn't have a chance and even gave the 1000's a run for their money and this was with the bags ON!

Good to know you had a great day. IMHO there is no better place to learn a bike than at the track.

Congrats

this work?

seems to be different here. if this actually works, I'll be able to post something later...

AHA!!!!!

that's better. OK, I'll post a new thread later
