Lol I asked if I could do a few laps with the bags since i was my first track day they said no lol. I did pass a cbr1000 and gsxr 600 a few times

LOL the guy on the 600 was simply braking a lot earlier than me into the corners we were riding the corners at about the same speed. The CBR was pretty slow in the corners and hammering it in the straights which made it a PITA to get by him since I was lvl 1 they didn't want us passing in the corners at all so I was having to really wring'er out on the back straight to try to get past him.

Was just at Road America for LeMans today, chilled with the BMW Rahal Letterman team.

Reminded me about my first track day with the FJR and the debut of the Buell 1125r, that was an amazing day - 160 miles or so all day.... I still can't get that day out of my head..... one of the greatest days of my life.... Even if I had an R1 to run the track that day, I don't think I would have traded it out for a day on the track with my FJR. They booted my @$$ out of Novice within the first 3 laps, got more my speed in intermediate.... I was freakin exhausted...

Congrats on having that experience - super fun, and I hope no-one got hurt that day....

Still have the need to get a track bike or a more powerful street track bike to run from time to time... some day

Agreed.... FJR is just a tank, plowing into turns compared to the lighter and much faster sport bikes....

I actually felt pretty good when he pulled me off the track to ask me WTF I was doing.... freaked me out at first....

Your skill set is much better then Novice - get your @$$ in Intermediate.... Ok sorry...

BTW - you toss that tank around pretty good, better then most with nice light nimble bikes I see around here.... Big Grin

This guy I kept trying to pass in the straights cause he was going pretty slow in the corners and then hammering his bike in the straights. it took me a few laps but I got past him on the back straight by braking deep into the corner.

It effectivly makes the stock windscreen taller without actually being taller lol. It works pretty good. I've been thinking about taking it off for more airflow during these hot days but just haven't done it yet. It does do a pretty good job at directing flow just above my helmet. I'm 5' 7" for reference.

I started doing track days last year after 35 years of riding. Did it based on advice I got here that training my daughter would benefit from instruction from others than myself. turned out to be extremely good advice.

Both of us were definitely in the "Novice" group tin the beginning. Now we're both intermediate or advanced and my technical riding skills are FAR superior to what they were for most of my riding years. While I hope we never to need it the ability to turn or brake a bike at or near the limits of it's capability could easily save one of us someday.

I'm sharing this in the hope it will motivate some others that have never really considered a track day to go for it. It's great fun and almost any rider will improve their skills, some very significantly, from a well run track day.

Your event sounds a lot like the ones they run here in MN at BIR which are very well organized with plenty of instructors and a strong emphasis on safety. An actual serious crash is rare. Riders ocassionally run off the track but one of the advantages of a real race track is that there are run-off areas if you make a mistake. The rules are structured in such a way that any crash that does occur is the fault of the rider not someone else. (example: No passing except on straights for Novice, 2 bike lengths space for passing in intermediate)

So .... if you ride and think you skills could be improved consider a track day. You won't be sorry, you'll have a hell of a lot of fun, and you just might learn something that will save your life.

I could not even tell you what colour any of the bikes in the photos were... This shit got so into my face that I instantly left the pages... Twice...

You are more than welcome to vacate the thread. I'm sorry you were so disturbed/offended by the watermarks. I have yet to receive the non watermarked full res pictures yet. The ones I posted are the ones he posts on his website so you can select and buy them from him. He burns the full res ones onto a CD and sends them to you after purchase.

Personally, I would have LOVED to see watermarked pics...it appears that hart-photography no longer exists (as of 3:50pm PDT 8/29/2010)...it has no webserver running.
