Just finished debriefing my riding partner on what should have been a sweet ride up North here in the pnw. Not. They got as far as the Mackenzie area on the way to Chetwynd BC when the Triump he was riding with lost its final drive. According to him there is a steel drive shaft that meshes with an aluminum carrier which was ground away. Had someone E-mail up pages of shop manual and 2 O-rings were missing(possibly never installed during assembly, as well as not greased?) and all was dry as a bone with burnt particles. 8900 miles on a pretty new big sport tourer and still under warranty, called closest dealer in Edmonton Alberta, said ok we will look at it, bring it in, ha. 900 dollars for truck rental to get it home. Very scenic area, they spent a couple of days in a cabin on a very pretty lake while trying to sort things out. No groceries, had to ride 60K to Chetwynd for food..Get more details tomorrow when we go for coffee.
