Actually I talked about this when we were in Europe last time..... I think it's a neat idea!
Tom and Pam that would be wonderful if you can join the Tuscany by Scooter in 2014, you folks are always fun to ride and party with both foreign and domestic. Please Note Reply #19: At this current posting, there are only three "Couples" openings left for this trip!

Guten Tag Werner, Coral, Jens, Markus und Manuel,

We Members of AZ Beemers MOA Club #89 and the FJR Forum are looking to book another Custom Tour.

You will remember we booked an Alps Extreme Tour with Manuel Taschner as our Tour Guide last August.

We already have 4 couples committed to A Tour of Tuscany by Scooter Trip between the two M/C forums.

Could last week of September in 2014 be made available to us? I see no problem getting 10 participants!

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/147451-2012-europe-sausagefest-gelato-tour/ Great Tour!

Age of consent in Italy is 16. JSNS..

From Catblu of AZB: I took the Edelweiss Andalucia tour in 2001 and just signed up for the "Best of Europe" tour Oct 9, 2013. Not sure I would do a scooter tour unless I had one that would keep up with the natives.

Spent 4 weeks in Tuscany just a few years ago and stationed in Germany I was always down there on my 1966 BMW R60/2 with only 30 horsepower, 300cc scooters are just fine for the Tuscany area. Hell's Bell's, I would bet $$$ a 2013 300cc modern scooter would smoke my old R60/2 in a quarter mile drag race!

Please Note: Just for grins and giggles I dug up the specs for the 300cc Scooters we Forumites will be renting: "This 300 cc motor scooter features front and rear disk brakes (/2 brakes are DEADLY!), 12" cast alloy wheels, an oversize 2 rider seat, 22hp and a top speed of 85 mph. Also included is a small wind screen."

Now here is the real kicker, even though allegedly my R60/2 had 30hp, my 1966 would never run faster than 65-70 mph; it would only hit 85 if it fell off of a cliff!

You were probably a fit handsome guy when you were stationed in Germany riding that 1966 R60, and it wouldn't run faster than 70 mph. Now the 300cc scoot may have a top speed of 85 mph, but it probably won't even get close to half of that if the GVWR gets far exceeded... JSNS!!

You sir are one hell of an eloquent bastard! I couldn't have said it any better myself!

I can't even begin to imagine what Italians think of us Americans when they see somebody like beemerdons riding a scooter!

Some things you just can't un-see!

Added Tuscany by Scooter September 2014 Tour ride availability and group openings to FJRiders Forum: https://www.fjriders.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=236

I met a man on Saturday who was wearing a 'Vespa' t-shirt. When I asked him if he rode one, he enthusiastically said "YES!"

He said that he enjoyed riding the Vespa in Italy so much that he came home and searched for one here. He found one: a completely restored 1963 model.

https://amerivespa.org/# Bret while researching Vespa's for this Tuscany Tour I was highly impressed by how loyal Vespa Owners are, once they own Vespa they do seem to stay with them forever!

Loyal and some SERIOUS riders.

One of my PGR friends is a gal who, in 2011 rode from San Diego to Alaska, then across Canada to Nova Scotia, down the east coast and home. Last year she did the Run For The Wall to D.C. & back.

I'd bet the farm that she'll be at the San Diego event.

Please Note: I have received many phone calls, PM's and emails from AZ Beemers and FJR Forum Friends saying that they would love to go on a Tuscany by Scooter Tour in 2014 but that the EBT prices were just too damn high. An FJR Forum B.U.D, who will remain nameless and has a large amount of personal and associate knowledge of Tuscany has volunteered to be my Co-Leader on this trip and will help plan to cut our costs to a lesser level. We'll present a $$ budget.

By the way, B.U.D stand for Big Ugly Dane; it's entirely possible that you may just happen to know him, he is Old Michael's Stepfather. jes' sayin' and nuff' said!

Still watching this for a better price break!
Mi Amigo Tomaso, please give Dr. Rich and I until April to put up a budget. He has family who stayed in Florence and we will reach out to them for information on what they paid.

Also, there is the concern of many the 300cc scooters will not be adequate for transporting we "normal sized" people around Tuscany. Donna and I will test ride a Vespa in March.

https://www.rental-motorcycle.com/europe/italy/florence_rental.html Tom, we're discovering we can rent 800cc motorcycles for very close to the scooter rental fees! So, we may go with "real" motorcycles!

I said I would assist with this. I think it will be a hoot to scoot all over Tuscany. It will look like the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus moving from town to town.... And I will be working with the SFI (Stupid Fooking Irishman) to make this happen...
