Hello Karin,

Thank you for this message, it's also of benefit to us. Donna and I are arriving in Florence a day or two early, after the Scooter tour we're off to Rome for four days.

Sincerely,

Don Stanley

Thank you very much for your e-mail. I have been away from the office for a week enjoying myself on a bike trip through Croatia. J So I am sorry for the late reply but will answer all your questions as follows:
1. What is the date were we are supposed to initially meet outside Florence?
You will need to check-in at the hotel in Florence on September 28 until 3 pm. This will give you enough time for unpacking and for having a first glimpse at the hotel and the group. At 5 pm that day the official welcome briefing will be held and then the scooter takeover.
2. What is the address of the place we are supposed to meet?
So far all hotels for next year have not been confirmed yet. My colleagues at the hotel reservation department are just about to set agreements with all places we stay. So please give us some more time for providing this information since I don’t want to give you any wrong addresses.
3. What is the final date for the tour and when are we supposed to be on our way home?
The last overnight being included in the trip is October 3 to October 4. Then, on October 4 you may leave at whatever time is convenient for you. Of course, breakfast is still included that day just in case you don’t fly out early in the morning.
4. Does your office have recommendations on getting to the hotel where we will assemble?
Yes, once the hotel is confirmed I can provide you with detailed information how to reach the hotel from the airport and if you have any questions upfront we can clarify everything in time.
5. What is the time frame for payments to Edelweiss?
Deposit payment has been paid already and for the rest payment we will need to receive money at the latest 60 days before the tour starts. Of course, I will send you the invoice first and a reminder well in time once payment is getting due.

If there is anything else I can do please just drop me a note!

All the best,
Karin

Subject: AW: Hello Karin, How many spots are still available for the late-September 2014 EBT Scooter Tour of Tuscany? We are starting to get more interest at both FJRiders and AZ Beemers Club!

Thank you Don,

For letting me know your question. So far I have received firm bookings of 9 people:
> Don Stanley & Donna Monkhouse
> Susan & Richard C.
> Carolyn M. & Patrick R.
> Susan & John S.
> Heather R.

So if Jeff and Phyllis sign up too we will hold at 11 people > goal reached! J Of course, we can accommodate many many more so if you would give it another push that won’t hurt. J Also, I am sorry but we do not hold at any scooter videos. We are just about to start collecting video footage but so far haven’t had anything on file – I am sorry.

Thank you Don!

Karin

FJR Forum has achieved the 5% discount for the September 2014 Tuscany Tour by Scooter with 11 Participants. If you are wondering why we have an odd number on a Couples Tour, one of the riding couples is bringing their Daughter and she will be riding behind Dad on his Vespa Scooter.

I asked Karin of Edelweiss Bike Travel to cap this Tour Group at 15 participants, so if you're interested in going there are only two couples spots left for the FJR Forum!

Do we have to double up on a scooter' date=' or can we each get one to ride??[/quote']

Susan and Dr. Rich are each riding their separate scooters, plus AZ couple John and Sue are each riding their own scooters, even though John is packing Sue's Daughter Heather on the back of his scooter. I sure hope You and Norm will join us, it will be weird not having Canuckistanis along on an FJRiders European Ride. Who else will lead us in der Drinking, eh Hosers! jes' sayin' and nuff said!

Current Roster of Tuscany by Scooter Participants as of 10/23/14:

Don Stanley & Donna Monkhouse
Susan & Richard C.
Carolyn M. & Patrick R.
Susan & John S.
Heather R.
Brian and Melanie Boles
Jeff and Phyllis

Please Note: I'm holding two spaces open for a Canadian couple only, we need true drinking professionals such as the Canuckistanis on this Ride. Attendance will be limited to 15.

Hello Don,

I hope my e-mail finds you well. After Phyllis and Jefferson have sent in their bookings the AZ beemer group now holds at more than 10 people. J Therefore I would like to send you the attached invoice for the final payment including the 5% discount as agreed with Rainer!

Please note Don that payment is not due yet, it will need to arrive at our account no less than 60 days before the tour starts. If you don’t mind I would send you a gentle reminder once we get closer.

If there is anything else I can do please let me know.

Thank you and have a great day,
Karin

Thought you FJR Forum Tour of Tuscany Riders might enjoy this: Vespa ****!
https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a76_1384241374
Thanks for the Vespa ****, Don! My bride and I watched it with a mixture of "hey, we've been there!" (the Italy portions) and "wonder when we'll go there?" (the Balkan parts).

You folks are gonna have SO much fun!

I have a friend from PGR who rides a Vespa - everywhere. A couple years ago she rode to Hyder, Alaska - then joined a scooter club to ride across Canada, then she rode back to San Diego from Maine. Last year and this year she's done the Run For The Wall. Next Summer she is planning to ride the AlCan Hwy., then turn around and head to Tierra del Fuego!

On. A. Vespa.

... and all the best for 2014! We are looking forward welcoming you on one of our more than 70 tours and trainings worldwide!

www.edelweissbike.com I went to the EBT website and they have our September 28 through October 4 Custom Tour listed "Waiting List Only"!

However, if you are a member of FJR Forum and still wish to go on this Tour I will work out arrangements with Karin Gritsch to get you on!

ON THIS SCOOTER TOUR THROUGH TUSCANY YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE THE WORLD-FAMOUS ITALIAN LIFESTYLE.

Savor a full week of excitement in one of the top regions of Europe and discover the hidden jewels of Tuscany on a scooter. Florence will be our host on this Tuscany by Scooter tour, and there will be enough time during this week to discover the amazing town center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

From Florence we’ll take a scooter tour every day to the most amazing sights nearby. Our first tour will take us to the small, walled, medieval hill town of San Gimignano. Founded by the Etruscans in the 3rd century BC, it is famous mainly for its beautiful towers. The next day’s ride will roll gently through the hills of one of the world’s famous wine regions, Chianti.

In Siena you’ll learn all about the Palio di Siena with enough time to stroll through the streets and enjoy a cappuccino on the Piazza del Campo. Arezzo, our next destination, was one of the most powerful Etruscan towns in the past. Nowadays, the beautiful old city is the center of the Italian jewelry industry and uses up to ten tons of gold every month. The region north of Florence, called Mugello, is maybe best known for the annual Moto GP at the Mugello racetrack, but has much more to offer. The hills and roads of this region seem to have been made expressly for our scooters, and this day will be a lot of fun with scootering, relaxing and enjoying the Italian lifestyle.

One big sight is still awaiting us: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We’ll park our scooters right in front of it on Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Wonders). Of course, we’ll climb the stairs and from above have a fantastic view. You might already have tears in your eyes, because the end of this fantastic scooter tour is nearing and it’s time to say goodbye to Tuscany.

Beemerdon, my wife and I will be in the Tuscany area from 9/4 thru 9/13. I'm considering renting a bike and doing a little touring in the area you plan on visiting. Any heads up on must-sees, hotels and restaurants will be GREATLY appreciated. Right now I'm starting with a clean sheet of paper.

https://www.alpineroads.com/dolomites.php I highly recommend that you join the Alpine Roads website CopB8. I have been a member for ten years now, a great group of guys and many of them live right in the Dolomites. Tuscany also has great riding and I will give you a few of my favorite roads this month, but you absolutely cannot beat the Dolomites!

https://www.hotelmodigliani.com/en/home.html Here is we FJR Forumites are staying at in Rome; 167 Euros a night, $$$ but it is in a great location.

https://www.facebook.com/HotelModigliani "The owners, Giulia and Marco, are artists. They wanted to create an elegant atmosphere and, at the same time, familiar and welcoming, in this charming hotel near the Spanish Steps and Via Veneto. They gave the name of their favorite painter: Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920). The superior rooms of the top floor have a breathtaking panoramic view on the city historical center . The quiet and comfortable rooms, the charming lounge located on the ground floor and the delightful inner garden make this hotel an oasis." - See more at: https://www.hotelmodigliani.com/en/diconodinoi.html#sthash.B2UTYqFq.dpuf
