I've been watching some youtube vids on the FJR and ran across some reviews by some of the young sportbike guys who demo our favorite bike. They are amazed by what we already know about the speed comfort and handling of these bikes. It's all good stuff.

From the second vid "Yamaha came out of nowhere with this and hit it out of the park!" ... Really? 14, 15 years on the market and it's coming out of nowhere? These guys were probably still in diapers with the first FJR came out.

Not good. If or secret gets out the good roads will be clogged with whippersnappers that couldn't tolerate their crotch rockets for long enough to get to them before.

Heading out to plaster the hip social media (if I can get my kids to show me where it is) with the word that the FJR is for gray haired slow pokes.

It was interesting to see their perspective, or more to the point, to see their perspective change while riding it. Good find, thanks.

Maybe this is the reason the new FJR's are so expensive to insure....young whippersnappers getting a hold of them.

No. Its that it is SOOOO expensive to repair the cruise control and traction control. Those things have NOTHING to do with safety and should not decrease the insurance.

Did the sarcasm show up in that one?

I do have to admit, I sounded a little like that when I went from my sportbike to test ride a goldwing. That was quite the eye opening ride for me. I started looking at the sport tourers and tourers more seriously. It wasn't till I had to work my ass off to chase down a well ridden FJR in the twisties of Arkansas that I was completely sold. We stopped and I said "I'm getting me one of those!" The rest is history.

Ok this is really funny because I've been thinking of posting this exact thing. I saw these videos and thought the it was interesting to hear their opinions too. I'm not sure what they were riding before but the shock and enthusiasm was funny.

I may be slightly cynical but have you guys ever heard about young'uns getting paid to write great reviews for products on Amazon? Not suggesting Yamaha paid for these but just a feeling I got listening to both. Maybe I just can't relate to twenty-somethings anymore.

Or thirty-somethings.

Or maybe even forty-somethings.

yeah, seems like as soon as they get on the bike they're having orgasms about it...before they even ride on their crappy little loop with other riders that can't even ride.

This definitely feels like paid YouTube youth marketing...which is clever and almost subtle. I'm with 1911, this needs to get shut down. Anybody know where the kids hang out online these days? This must be stopped. :D

I've had a young fella interested in my '07, he emails me daily..... was going to come see it, then informs me his insurance will be $5000 for the year........ yep, that will deter them for sure from the big bore bikes.....

Interesting story. That helps explain why you went by "gixxerjasen." So at what point does gixxerjasen become FJRjason? Hohoho- Just kidding...

In Florida, if you're at least 21 and wear a helmet, you don't have to carry insurance on a motorcycle. You'd probably have sold your bike had you lived here. Even so, 5k per year? How insane is that? Who could even imagine paying out that kind of money for insurance?

Yea, well the moral of the story is never pick your forum name based on what you ride. Of course, now that the FJR is paid for I'm shopping for something fun. My name could potentially have meaning again soon.
