Second video guy needs to change to a bike with automatic turn signal cancel. Perhaps he should concentrate more on his riding and less on his incessant, repetitive chatter.

Of course, I've never, ever, left my turn signals on

.

In the first video, he drives 40 feet and proclaims, "this thang is amazing". Now far be it from me to shoot anyone down and he does make good points later in the video. But, what could be "amazing" in 40 feet?

I've had an fjr for years. When I first drove it 40 feet my first words were "I hope I don't drop this thing" .

It was kind of funny to hear him proclaim that "this thing has a lot of power" . Or course dude, it's a sport bike for old guys with jobs. We ain't screwing around. 😇

Video 1: How old is he? His voice is higher than hers.

The problem is his opinion about flickability, etc. given the roads they were on when he said it.

After my first 400 of so feet on an FJR, my initial thought was.... "So THIS is what they mean by 'watch yourself on a fuel injected liter bike'".

Also in both vids, they test ride it two-up. I'd be very nervous about riding any motorcycle for the first time with a pillion. Especially if I have to join about 10 other riders, none of which I know.

OTOH - I am thoroughly impressed with the Yamaha demo rides. Scooter and his colleagues do an EXCELLENT job. The ride is long enough over varied roads to get a real feel for the bike, and he gives you a chance to stretch the legs a little within reason.

Oh. My. God. Is that SkooterG in the first video at 3:35? Telling the newbie to drop to the back?

Watching this video, I too thought it was a bit laughable about his comments about the FJR's "flickability". Good grief anyways, he jiggles the bars a little and proclaims it's so flickable?

I noticed this too. Did you notice how high of rpm he used when letting out the clutch? Sheesh... Maybe it was the torque that got him so excited so quick. I can't imagine using that much rpm to get moving unless I was fulled loaded for a weekend trip with the wife on the back on a really steep hill.

He was coming from a 600 class bike which are often geared so high that not only do you have to wring it's neck, sometimes you have to push off to get started.

This. When I went to trade my TL1000R with it's monster low/mid torque for a GSX-R600 (owned several 600's previously) I'd forgotten how to ride one. I gave it a little gas and let out the clutch and was like "WTF? is it in gear? Oh, I'm moving...look how slowly."

Once ya got her screaming though...another story.

Then there was WLFMAN's new label for the FJR:

Couchrocket.

I love it. This forum just keeps gettin' better...

I guess I could relate to the "600 cc wringing its neck" issue. Coming from a nighthawk S, with some relatively hot cams, my first ride on the FJR was enlightening. The fuel injection, torque, and comparative smoothness of the motor were stupendous to me. But it's not just the motor - the wind protection comparatively is absolutely choice.

I remember thinking.... "Boy this bike is smooth, but I'm not really going at it much. Wonder what she's like at speed?"

Then I looked down and I was doing 85 mph.

Thinking back on this, I went with a friend (former sportbiker) to look at a used FJR at a local dealership. They handed him keys for a test ride and off we went. After a sedate run up the freeway we exited and were at a light. I asked him what he thought and he smiled and said "I like it!" I remember thinking, "You like it? You haven't even tried it!" As we pulled a Texas U to get back on the freeway to go back I took the lead. I crawled at about 10mph to let the cars ahead get well away from us and then pinned it and blasted through the gears. They'd loaned him a half helmet with a clear full face shield so I got a very clear view of the ear to ear grin when he pulled up alongside me. I then thought to myself "Now you know you like it!"

So yea, it's possible to be impressed with the FJR as a sportbiker when you've only stuck your toe into the water. But holy moley, when you jump all the way in you better be ready!

Funny I can't relate to sports bike to FJR. My time on sports bikes is very, very limited.

I got on the FJR after riding a V-twin 1300. So my reaction was different.

When breaking it in and not running up the rpms I was actually a bit disappointed. The engine felt

buzzy and not all that strong. Then I learned to ride it. First time I rolled the throttle back hard

and it went past 4k - I was in love!!!!

Funny thing is I have an aversion to watching VLOGs. Something about riding and talking to a

camera. I can't watch one more then a few seconds. Now hit a nice road and put on some cool

back ground music and I might watch your video.

One of the first thing she says after she gets on "so, are there different modes and stuff.....?" Sounded a little scripted. I'm not well versed in sport bikes, but it seemed like an odd question. But hey. It is a kick *** bike.
