My first Tech day, my first time meeting a bunch of the forum people was at Failaners place. Helped wrench on some bikes, had some great burgers and beverages with the gang, great conversation, I even bought one of my first farkles from fairlaner.

There was one person that was there that had a 2005 FeeJ like mine and had many farkles installed on his bike, so I asked him a ton of questions. He was a very nice person that was more than happy to answer my silly noob questions, and actually he was rather quite that day…. Maybe because fairlaner and him had some libations the night prior, or I should say, earlier that morning.

I only knew him as Tim. Towards the end of the day, I asked who he was on the forum and he replied, "TwoWheelNut". This was my only personal meeting with Tim, although I also PM'd him a few times after that.

I'm glad I actually got to spend some time with Tim, as brief as it was, and only that once.

To Tim, @ 6pm.

TWN was the first person on this forum to welcome me!

I had posted a picture of myself and my bike. He had recognized the location as being the backside of Lake Casitas, welcomed me to the forum and invited me to ride along!

The first chance that I had to do so, was a forum ride-to-eat at Morro Bay. It started with about 8 of us and was closer to 18 by the time we sat down to eat. He guided us over Hwy 33, from Ventura to Taft, and then over Hwy 58 back to the coast.

It was the ride back that I'll never forget. We would "ride ahead" and wait for others to catch up, etc. etc. My '05 was still bone stock then, but I had been throwing a big bike around for awhile. Everytime we took off, I'd do my level best to keep up, only to lose sight of him and then find him waiting up ahead! It was one of those really in-the-zone kind of rides, that only happen when they happen! We were flying!

I'll probably never forget that ride, and because of it, Tim!

Thanks Tim, for the kindness! And thank you to the family for sharing him with us!

Had a great time last night @ MCML's 60th b-day party! Jill is right..it felt like Tim was there with us. Great to see Chris Bates...Tim's brother. We are lucky to have the tree in our yard that reminds us everyday of our dear friend Tim. He was a very special person and he will be in our hearts forever...We have such a wonderful circle of friends all because of the FJR and our love of motorcycles!

I didn't know Tim at all well, but I do know most of his good friends well!

His greeting to me at our first meeting at one of the WFO's was "who the **** are you, and why are you at this meeting?" We got along famously after I returned the compliments. Lifting a glass of Canda's best in your honour Tim.

The Salute.

First time meeting Tim, at a Santa Barbara Jack In the Box -

"Can you believe them ******* forum moderators?"

I busted a gut and knew I'd like this guy from the get-go.

..that, plus he was good at meeting at the place of my choice, not a freaking high-dollar $tarBucks. :****:

That's the first memory.

..then, the ride back from Denver with the hottie flag girl.. yeah, guess who was closest, nudging his bud to the outside?

Of course, while there, Andrew and Tim yokin' it up...

Little did I know that day at Bonneville, this would be the 'signature' foto.. oh, btw, on the way to the flats, Tim had his 05 at warp speed, I was behind, thinking, WTFO, what the hell got into him? LOL. Now I know better.

Tim said, we have to ride this road - 36.. Why said I? Already late for arrival, I was facing the 'schedule'. "Because, trust me".

OK, kinda glad I did if you get my drift..

We arrived on the ocean side - after an epic ride..

"Was it worth it?" asked Tim?

"No words"... from a guy who likes to talk..

Of course, the inevitable phone call had to be made, and Tim just laughed the whole time..

Until, of course, I caught him making *his* call.

(ironic how this **** no longer matters, meaning being out on the road an extra day - I have lifelong memories, my boss no longer remembers.. Tim is dead, Patti is dead... who is better off? I don't know. :****: )

On the way, I saw this cloud formation, road up to Tim, pointed, saluted him, he saw both salutes and just laughed...

So here is the tree update..

Tim's birthday last year.

..and today the tree, like us, hopefully, continue to grow in the fond memories of knowing Tim.

LOL, I think Tim would have appreciated I tried really hard to get this post updated at exactly 18:00:00 but.. by the time I mowed the area around the tree, PhotoFucket screwed up, I was a bit late..

This last foto is to celebrate the living - Chris, this is for you - you had mentioned wanting to know the condition of your hat, your tribute to Tim...

Edit: Just saw you beat me to teh request on the tree update!

Don, how about an updated picture of the tree and sign?

I never new TWN personally or ever met him in person. But I always looked forward to his comments, especially when someone got a little out there. My first thought is what is TWN gonna post? He never disappointed.

Tipped a few back tonight in his honor.

Whoa, ****, DOn! Tears on the inside of my new Dr. Edel store bought lenses. Hadda stop and scroll to the bottom at "why it doesn't matter".

WAAAAYYYY F'ing too profound to do anything but take it with me and sip the rest of this glass.

I bought something special for this occasion, since I seldom keep anything in the house anymore: A $15 Double Gold winning "Sixth Sense" Syrah from Lodi, California to raise a glass to two whom we have lost who mattered very much. And it was "To Tim: I hope you and Andrew had a great ride this beautiful afternoon, on whatever tranquil plane you both still exist."

I loved TWN's forum posts...so dry, so biting, so good at cutting through the BS. He was a big part of the "flavor" of the FJR world. I thought he was just a funny sarcastic dude.

Then I met him for about a minute at the NAFO registration table. As we were introduced, he asked about my Dad...you see the fires were big in Goleta and SB that year...and he was looking out for my elderly dad...giving me updates on the fires via PM that I couldn't get otherwise.

So I know that he was a man who cared about other people when the first thing out of his mouth was about my dad. He was a wiseass yes...but a wiseass who cared.

I'm sorry I never got to ride with him.

I remember Tim's posts and looked forward to 'em, but never had the opportunity to meet him.

The closest I can say we were was our *** has shared the same seat... At one point, I owned the seat from his bike, so my *** shared butt-grooves that he made.

Anyway.

On our big ride out west a month or so ago, I saw this cloud and thought of him.

Rest in peace, Tim.

So hey, Wheatie- you know me and I You..

...and yes, you missed a very good human not spending time with Tim.

.which leads me to another topic - and a different post. Thanks Wheatie... I know you don't know how, but you've helped me get through this day.

Was up in NH for the Greens and Whites this weekend. The last of us die-hards were still sitting up past midnight last night at the hotel. MEM remembered it was the aniversary of Tim's passing. The three of us made a toast then. I never met the man, but certainly wish I had.
