Got some e-mail spam early this morning from Motorcycle Superstore that they were having a big jacket sale. MCS is one of the few merchants that I actually pay attention to. Normally I would be totally indifferent to their random enticements, especially as my gear closet already overfloweth... But, today they announced they are clearing out some Olympia Air-glide 3 men's and wimmen's jackets.

We are pretty big Olympia gear fans as they are darned good quality products from our experience. We both already own a whole bunch of their older gear, and are pretty much completely satisfied with all of it. One of the knocks on Olympia has always been that it is never discounted, even the past years' products. You pretty much pay MSRP anywhere you are lucky enough to find the stuff.

But this sale is different. They are radically discounting these jackets, for what reason I don't know, nor particularly care. I just bought TMJ and me a HiViz mesh Airglide 3 jacket, and they were $160 each. A few years ago we paid MSRP for the Airglide 2's because they couldn't be found any lower.

We sprung for the AG3's to get the HiViz (hey, it's way safer and all the rage) and also because they now have a 2 part liner so you can get waterproofed without getting insulated. Our 2-3 year old silver colored AG2's are still in very good shape, which is part of the incentive to stay-on with Olympia.

Since my order is already in and secured, I figured I'd share my findings with the FJR Folks. Hope this is helpful.

Better get on it fast. These won't likely last too long.

Thank's Fred I also got the spammail an thought the price was very good for that quality gear so....my finger is on the trigger Thank's again JAG

Tell me about the sizing, can you compare it to the size of other jackets? I've got Tourmaster in MED that's about right but a First Gear would feel better in a LG.

I could wear a med or a LG, just depends.

I LOVE my Olympia Airglide 3... have worn it in 28-113 degree weather and it's worked well at all temps... great flexibility in layering so you don't have to bring an extra jacket for the other end of the spectrum when traveling. Plus the women's style, imo, is very flattering on as well... and for $160?!? No question... do it!!! :)

I have an older Airglide owned since 2007 and it's getting a bit worn after about 70K miles. I think I'm in on this deal. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the heads-up Fred, I bought the OAG3 a couple years ago for full price in gray and black.

It's been a great jacket. Just placed my order for a Neon "Poke Your Eye Out" Yellow and Black.

$160 on this jacket is too good to pass up.

Anyone want a well seasoned OAG3, very reasonably priced? No extra charge for the bug guts.

FYI if you want one of these don't dally. I checked Revzilla and they are out of stock on these.

Thanks Fred! I just pulled the trigger on a stealth 1 pc mesh for these Ga summers. 200 clams is a lot less than the light stich I was considering...and I think this will be cooler also.

Saving up for a one piece stitch. (Black) At the speeds that I drive I don't want to be seen.

All Olympia gear runs true to their size charts, IMO. They are also "American" cut so plenty of room in the midsection for a typical beer gut. I suggest looking at them on RevZilla's web site for some excellent reviews and sizing info.

If you are between sizes on this, you'll want to decide how often you will wear the insulated liner, as it will fit looser without any liners or with just the thin rain liner. I'm between an L and XL in most every brand and wear an XL Of this jacket so there is room for liners/layers under.

I love mine, can't say enough about it.

If you are on the fence about this jacket, I say go for it.

You are not going to find them at that price.

Thanks for the post.

Sounds like everybody agrees about the brand. Me too, and this is a great price. This is my main 3-season jacket (have the pants too). Good for all but the coldest temps, and the best I have for the hottest. It's holding up very well, so I can't justify buying another--even though I'd like it in the hi-viz color--but +1 for Olympia.

I looked at the jacket, but ended up ordering a Stealth mesh 1 piece. I have a stich for colder weather, but like mesh for summer. Since I feel nekid without top and bottom coverage, I figured I might as well go with the 1 piece. At $200 it's quite a deal. If it doesnt fit, it's also returnable...so my risk is return shipping only.

Going from Black to Hi-Viz. I'll look like a huge lemon going down the road...or maybe Walleye bait.

Excellent price, Fred. I've had the hi-viz AG2 for years, the worst is keeping it clean plus the reflection in your GPS. Last year I got lucky and found an Olympia Ranger (long since discontinued), mostly black with hi-viz, almost the same as an AG but flows more air (AG has solid panel over the forearms). I usually call Tellico Plains Outfitters for my Olympia stuff.
