After receiving some very useful information from the famed Jestal, I decided to write to the manufacturers of Rotella earl (Shell) and question them about this idea of using earl designed for [supposedly] diesel engines in motorcycle engines. I have attached my original letter and their response.
And after reading their letter and absorbing the information from the man himself, I too am using Rotella T 15w-40 and/or 5w-40 Synthetic in my new FJR. And I may as well mention I threw on a Super Tech ST7317 for good measure.
I figured if I used the four letter word "oil", I'd be promptly horse-whipped. Or worse yet, my spelling and/or grammar would be scrutinized.

To Whom It May Concern,
I recently purchased a motorcycle and joined a motorcycle forum. In
this forum, many people state they use Rotella T in their motorcycles and
it performs perfectly. In my owners manual it states that I should use a
oil that "API service SG type or higher, JASO standard MA". Does
RotellaT meet these standards? What can you tell me about this subject. Not
that it matters, but I purchased a 2008 Yamaha FJR1300. Many members of
this Yamaha forum swear by your product and I use it exclusively in my
diesel pickup truck. Life would be simpler for me if I were to use this oil in my motorcycle
also.
(Response)
Dear Sir,
Shell Rotella T 15w-40 is an API CJ-4/SM Rated oil which exceeds the
API SG requirements and is suitable for use in those applications. While
Rotella T 15w-40 also meets the frictional requirements of JASO MA, it
does not have formal JASO MA approval. If your warranty specifies
JASO MA, you should probably use an oil with formal JASO MA approval while
your motorcycle is under the manufacturer's warranty period.
