Hello all,

Due to a scheduling conflict I am unable to host this event at this time. I am postponing this until

a future date can be set. The interest in this kind of gathering has been positive and a

need exists for this in the future. I will keep you posted. Thanks for your interest and input

Phil

No worries, thanks for trying to put everything together....good luck with everything Phil :)

No worries Phil. We'll get something put together for a later date.

It's prime riding season now...don't want the bikes all torn apart anyway!

Hi Phil,

Any plans to reschedule this in the near future?

If not I will have to look at alternatives since I am up to 31k miles now.

Thanks!

Henry

For those that are riding in for a valve adjustment, a reminder that the FSM says:
NOTE:

---------------------------------------------------------

  • Valve clearance adjustment should be made on a cold engine, at room temperature.

A hot engine will change clearance readings a small amount.
I have a question about this very issue. My bike has just gone over 27k during my trip last week, so it's due for it's first check. However, it's August in Phoenix and my garage is unlikely to be below 90 degrees for a few months still. It this too warm to get accurate measurements?

Sure sound to me like you have a excuse reason to air condition your garage :)

'Ambient temperature' is different from bike marquee to marquee. The general range is something like 60ºF to 85ºF. It is important that the engine is cool, it less important that you are perfectly in the range of 'ambient'. IMO, 90º isn't a show stopper.

Different alloys of aluminum have different expansion profiles but the general expansion profile for aluminum is (68° to 212°F) 13.0 x 10-6 (inch / inch / deg F) even if the base number changes a lot, it is the 10-6 that is the significant player and it's real small.
